Abstract

An adaptor with a built in dimmer switch which may be used to dim the brightness of a lamp which is connected to the power supply through the adaptor. The device may be fitted with a dial which is connected to the dimming mechanism.

Description

PLUG IN DIMMER SWITCH
Fixed dimmer switches for overhead lighting have been around for a number of years, but there do not seem to be any dimmer switches available for table lamps.
Therefore this invention would look very similar to a plug in mechanical timer, the difference being that the dial around its circumference would activate the dimmer.
The dimmer switch would have 3 pins on the rear that could be plugged into any standard British 3 pin electrical socket, and any table lamp could then be plugged into the dimmer switch.
The attached drawing gives an idea of what the plug in dimmer switch would look like.

  1. CLAIM
    A dimmer switch that can be plugged into any standard British 3 pin electrical socket which will enable any lamp to be dimmed that is plugged into it.
