Abstract
A ruler with straight edges A and cut out areas B, B1 along its length varying in width which enables a user to draw two or more lines. The ruler is manufactured by laser, moulding or a cut out method. The cut out areas B, B1 may permit different methods of drawing lines. Preferably the ruler enables three equidistant lines to be drawn for assisting early learning of writing skills by assisting hand and eye coordination. The ruler may be made from a variety of materials.

EARLY LEARNING WRITING RULER
The invention redates to modifications to a conventional ruler in order to create the ability to produce more horizontal lines on paper, parchment etc to assist children's early writing skills.
At present, a basic ruler has the ability to produce a line by drawing along the top or bosom edges with a pen, penal or other marking utensil.
The object of this modification is to prwide by means of laser or other cut out or moulding manufacturing dews, the opportunity for three lines to be drawn. The result would be as a teaching resource, facilitating early writing skills particularly of preschool and junior age children whose manual deity is still developing. The appropriate top or bottom lines will assist hand and eye coordination.
Accordingly, the invention produces by means of laser, cut out or moulding, cut out areas along its length and various equidistant width, from 1 millimetre to 3 or more, those extra lines.
The modified ruler may be made out of plastic, metal, wood or a combination.
A prefened embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 shows a ruler with the outer edges at A and two narrow cut out horizontal spaces. By drawing along edge A and along the two cut out spaces at edge B. three equidistant lines are formed. The width space at C may be varied from one millimetre to three or whatever is appropriate to fit in the ruler and accommodate the developing manual dexterity of the child.
Figure 2 snows a wider space at C, thus producing lines by a second modification to the conventional ruler. Again, three lines are achieved, this time by drawing the pen, pencil or other marking utensil along the outer edge A and the two inner edges at B. Figure 3 shows the created distance between B and B1, defining space D in order to facilitate placing and practice of small lepers.
Figure 4 shows the created distance between A and B1, defining space E to facilitate placing and precook of capital letters.
Claims (6)
1. A ruler, modified by means of cut out areas along its length and variation of width, manufactured by laser, moulding blade or other cut out method, thus creating edges along which it is possible to draw two or more lines.
2. A modified ruler as claimed in Claim 1 where the variation of width of cut put longitudinal spaces creates 2 different methods of drawing said lines.
3. A modified ruler as claimed in Claim 1 or 2 where when placed on paper horizontally creates the ability to draw three equidistant though variable width lines for assisting early reaming of writing skill by assisting hand and eye coordination.
4. A modified ruler as claimed in Claim 1 and 2 where when placed on paper or other, creams three lines for assisting early writing skills.
5. A modified ruler as claimed in any preceding claim, which can be made from metal, plastic material or wood or a combination of these materials.
6. A modified ruler, substantially as herein described and illustrated in the accompanying drawing.
