Abstract
A vacuum sealed bread bin that keeps bread and baked goods contained within the bread bin fresh by removing the air from inside the bin. The bin has a lid/door 2 that once closed forms an air tight seal and activates an extractor fan 1 that may be operated by either battery or mains power 4 that is preferably activated via a button located on the lid/door when the lid/door is closed. A thin rubber seal (7, Fig 3) provides an air tight seal between the lid/door and body of the bread bin, the lid/door may be held in the closed position by a catch (8, Fig 3). The bin may be made from plastic, wood or stainless steel.
Description
The Vacumised Bread Bin The Invention relates to a bread bin to store
bread and keep it fresh.
Normal bread bins are effective to an extent to keeping bread fresh as they keep it in a dry cool space but the bread does not stay fresh for all that long as it goes stale.
An object of this invention is that it is a bread bin with a air tight shutter and an extractor fan built in to take air out so that the bread stays fresher and is 'stale free'.
When the lid id shut on the bread bin, it forms an air tight seal and then the extractor fan is operated by either a 9v battery or mains point and operates for about 10 to 15 seconds to take the air out of the bread bin. Once all the air has been taken out, the bread can stay fresh as air causes it to go stale and mouldy.
The bread bin can be made of plastic, wood or stainless steel in order to match the consumer wants according to their own personal taste.
A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: FIGURE I shows the views of the bread bin with the lid/door open and closed.
FIGURE 2 shows a brief close up of the extractor fan to be used which is the same type as found on computers top keep them cool.
FIGURE 3 is a close up of the lid/door showing the locking and air tight mechanism.
As shown in Figure 1, you can see the layout of all the main components of the bread bin. I is the fan, 2 is the lid/door, 3 is the housing compartment and 4 is where the power supply unit will be, either battery or mains operated. This also shows the bread bin open and closed.
Figure,2 shows the fan I with a brief visual of what it will look like. It will have a protective grill in order to keep it safe but will allow the safe extraction of air from inside the bread bin when closed.
As shown in Figure 3, this is a close look of the lid/door 2. 6 is the handle to shut the bread bin with. 7 is a thin rubber seal which helps keep the bread bin air tight when the lid 2 presses againstthe seal 7. 8 is a small lid/door catch which looks the lid/door 2 tight against the housing compartment 3. r
Claims (6)
- Claims 1. A vacumised bread bin that keeps bread and baked goods fresh forlonger by removing all the air in the bread bin which causes bread to go stale.
- 2. A bread bin as claimed in Claim I where the bread bin is activated by the lid/door when it is shut turning on the extractor fan.
- 3. A bread bin as claimed in Claim 2 that has a small extractor fan that removes the air from the bread bin making it airtight.
- 4. A bread bin as claimed in any preceding claims where the lid/door seals tight by closing against a rubber seal making an airtight barrier.
- 5. A bread bin as claimed in any preceding claim which is made from metal, plastics material or wood, or from a combination of these materials.
- 6. A bread bin substantially as herein described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
