Abstract
A compactor for a waste bin such as a wheelie bin comprises a lever 1, 2, 3 for pivotable mounting on the mouth of the bin and hinged at 4 to a push rod 5 terminating at a compression foot 7 to compact waste in the bin when the lever is pulled downwards by hand at 1. The lever is attached to the bin via an attachment plate 10 with a universal joint 8 to enable the lever to move up, down, left and right. The lever may have a handle 2 attached to the end that can be extendable. The push rod can also be telescopically extended to allow the foot to extend further into the bin. Preferably the foot may be quickly released from the push rod via sprung button to allow the foot to be changed for a different shaped foot or to be cleaned.
Description
Rubbish Squasher
The invention relates to a common household wheelie bin which the dustmen empty.
A well known disadvantage with these wheelie bins is that they are mainly one size so when they are full the rubbish is pilled on top which leaves the lid open to smells and other unpleasantness.
The invention creates more room in the wheelie bin by squashing down the rubbish to make more room.
Accordingly, this devise is connected to the wheelie bin, with no need to drill any holes, has one screw to hold it in place, and with one arm which goes into the bin which can be extended to push the rubbish in further and another arm which you pull as a lever to squash the rubbish.
The bracket which holds the invention to the wheelie bin may need to be the right size and shape to fit, preferably the invention is made of metal or plastic or a combination of the two.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which:- Figure 1 shows perspective side view of the devise; Figure 2 shows a front view of the attachment plate; Figure 3 shows the pushrod end of the tool ; Figure 4 shows the different ends possible; Figure 5 illustrates the devise attached to a wheelie bin. and Figure 6 illustrates the attachment plate fix in place on the bin Referring to the drawing figure 1 the dives comprises of attachment plate 10 connected to a universal joint 8 connected to a bar 3. This bar is slid in the handle 2 and may be slid closer to the plate 10 to give more movement and leverage. At the end of the handle 2 is a hinge 4 pointing downwards which swings backward or forwards indicated by the arrows, this is connected to the push rod 5 that has a bar inside it 6 that slides up or down to extend further in to the bin. At the end of bar 6 is a detachable foot 7which can be removed for cleaning or different shaped tools.
In order to keep the dives secure figure 2 shows the attachment plate 10 with slid 9 which is slid up once the plate 10 is hooked on to the bins side and secured with a screw 11 to hold the attachment steady. Universal joint 8 sits over stem 13 connected to plate 10 that let the devise move up down and left to right.
Figure 3 shows push rod part 6 that can be slid out or in of the bar 5 to about % of the length of rod 6 and held in place by a quick release 12. The tool 7 at the end may be changed if need be by pushing in the button 14 to release a sprung catch and pulled out Being illustrated in figure 5 is the dives attached to the wheelie bin 19 ready for pushing the rubbish down to gain more room.
Figure 6 shows a closer view of the attachment plate 10 which hooks to the side of the wheelie bin 19 and slides up into position this then is secured in pace by plate 9 being pushed back and secured in place by screw 11.

A rubbish squasher for pushing down the rubbish in a common household wheelie bin which attaches to the side, comprising of an arm you pull down with a handle at the end which slides over a bar, an attachment plate with a joint on the attachment plate connecting the arm to move up, down, left or right, attachment plate has a screw and bar which is used keep the attachment in place with no need to drill any holes, in the middle of the or lever is a hinged push rod which goes down in to the bin, which can be made longer to reach into the bin further , with a foot on the end.
2. As claimed in claim 1 where the handle slides over the bar, which moves to, gives more movement and leverage when moved closer to the attachment plate.
3. As in claim 1 and 2 a quick release catch to hold the extending posh rod in place that enters the bin.
4. As claimed in claim 3 with removable end tool released by a sprung button and pulled out to clean or change for a different shaped foot
