Abstract

240,216. Koerner, E. June 23, 1923, (Convention date]. Addition to 217,932. Cigarette-making machines.-In cigarette-making machines as claimed in the parent Specification, in which cigarettes are delivered into containers b in a succession of layers, the cigarettetransporting means comprises a slide y in the form of an open-ended grid. Cigarettes are delivered from the machine to an endless band x comprising spaced strips or wires between which lie the bars of the grid y as shown. A layer of cigarettes is then removed from the band x by the grid y which is moved, by a cranked arm attached thereto, first upwardly, then to the right, and finally into the container b. Upon removal of the grid y from the container b a vertically movable slide engages the cigarettes and transfers them to the container b. A projection w on the grid y forms a stop for the cigarettes.
