Abstract

239,852. Alers, R. A. J. M. Sept. 9, 1924, [Convention date]. Buildings, floors, and walls, cleaning. - In a portable electrically driven machine for polishing or waxing flat surfaces, the tool 2 is carried by a circular member 1 having formed therein a chamber within which the end of the driving- shaft 6 is located. In order that the tool may rock slightly on the shaft, and to allow of pressure being put on the tool, the chamber comprises a part 7 of square section and a spherical seating 8, the end of the shaft being formed with a head having spherical portions 9, one of which engages the seating. The sides 10 of the head, which engage the part 7, are of cylindrical form, the axes of the cylindrical portions being situated in a plane perpendicular to the axis of the shaft 6 and passing through the centre of the spherical surfaces. A cap 11 retains the shaft in position and has an opening 12' of a size to allow of the rocking of the shaft, and a spherical seating to receive the other spherical portion of the head.
