Abstract

An electrically initiated explosive device comprises a tubular metal body 1 and a central contact 2 coaxial with the body and insulated from the body by dielectric material 34, thus forming transmission path. A bridgewire 5 brIdges the contacts internally of the device and an electrical current is applied to it via external contacts C1 and C2 to initiate an explosion. When handled in the presence of R.F., the transmission path transmits the RF to the wire 5 making the device hazardous. In order to reduce the hazard, a resistive layer 9 is placed across the input X-Y of the path to dissipate RF at the input. A resistance 9 may be placed anywhere across the path.
