Abstract
A perforated hollow tube B is placed around a plant and pushed into the planting medium. A container A with a central aperture is placed over the tube to form a continuous liquid barrier around the plant. The liquid barrier or moat prevent pests such as slugs and snails or any other invertebrates getting to the plant. The tube has a toothed edge B2 to make the penetration of the soil easier. The perforations B1 allow air to circulate around the plant.
Description
The Plant Moat The invention relates to an Insect and invertebrate
deterrent for plants, of a Type, which includes a perforated and hollow toothed cylinder and container Moat. Such other deterrents are well known but suffer from the disadvantage that They are normally distanced from the plant, which enables plant pest's access To the plant.
The object of this invention Is to provide a barrier for the plant against plant Pests. Accordingly this invention provides a hollow cylinder which goes over the Plant and into the soil, or any other planting medium and a container moat, which slides over the cylinder, preventing plant pest encroachment.
Preferably the hollow cylinder and moat is made of clear plastics but it May Instead be made in various coloured plastics or other suitable materials or a Combination of materials.
A preferred embodiment of the Invention will now be described with Reference to the accompanying drawing: Figure 1 shows a side view of the plant moat.
Figure 2 shows birds eye view of the moat, showmg the container moat and central aperture.
Figure 3 shows the perforated and toothed hollow cylinder.
As shown in figure I the plant moat comprises a hollow cylinder B. having perforations B1 in the top section and a toothed bottom. section B2, and a Container moat A Figure 2 shows a birds eye view of the container moat A, the centre of which has an aperture Al to enable the moat A to be slotted over the hollow cylinder B. once hollow cylinder B is in desired position.
As shown in figure 3 the hollow cylinder B has a toothed bottom B2, which enables easier Insertion of the hollow cylinder B into planting medium.
The hollow cylinder B is placed over the plant and pushed down into the planting medium, until the toothed B2 section has disappeared from view, leaving the perforated B 1 top section above ground level..
The container moat can then be slotted over and down the hollow cylinder B until the moat A reaches ground level.
The moat A can now be filled with water or any other liquid.
The perforations B1 allow air to circulate around the plant preventing air stagnation and rotting. The moat A provides a barrier preventing pests e.g. slugs and or snails getting to the plant.
Claims (4)
