Abstract
239,239. Budd Manufacturing Co., E. G. Aug. 30, 1924, [Convention date]. Bodies.-In metallic bodies for motor vehicles, the sill 14 of the front portion 9 of the body is made separately from that 13 of the tonneau portion 7 of the body, and the sills are connected together in position by means of a bracket 15, the sills being displaced vertically relatively to one another and the outer surface of the bracket constituting part of the outer surface of the vehicle. The bracket 15, Fig. 2, is connected to the tonneau. sill 13 as shown, the body sill being secured to the front portion of the bracket 15 which also supports and secures the post 21, 24 of the rear door. The sill 14, as well as the sill 13, is formed of pressed sheet metal and at the door openings constitutes the outer surface 29, Fig. 6, of the vehicle, the inclined threshold strip 27, and the support 25 and abutment 28 of the floor boards 26.
