Abstract

A collapsible rotary airer has a protective canopy 11 mounted on arms 1 which are separate from the arms 5 which support the drying cords 8. Both sets of arms are pivotally mounted at 7 to a common upper bearing 2 and have secondary supports (4,12 Figs 1,2) attached like umbrella stretchers to a lower bearing (3) which slides on the main post to allow erection/collapsing. The canopy is flexible, water resistant and light transmitting and held in place by corner pockets 13 and straps 10. Hooks 6 hold the cord 8.

Description

l Collapsible Rotatable Canopy and Air Dryer The invention relates to a
canopy, which is mounted on a support above the air dryer support where garments can be hung from the air dryer cord, the structure can be collapsible and stored away when no in use.
The air dryer is such a well known device for drying or airing of garments, but suffers from disadvantages that, in showery weather the garments on the air dryer get wet when it rains.
The object of this invention is to provide a way of airing or drying garments and have protection from the unpredictable weather conditions. Accordingly, this invention provides an air dryer with a canopy which is rotatable and collapsible for storage, which can be used front any position around the post.
Preferably the air dryer supports, bearings, hooks, pivots and post can be made of metal or plastics material, but it can be instead made of wood or a combination of these materials, preferably the canopy can be made of clear plastic material or a colored or with patterns or shapes, any water resistant material could be used provided light can pass through it with out ocusing to much of a shadow on the garments hanging below.
Preferably the post is placed into soil or concrete at its base in a vertical position.
A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: fI6URE shows a side veiw of the canopy 11, canopy supports 1 only two shown, secondary canopy supports 4 only two shown, main central bearing 2, secondary central bearing 3, post 9, pivots 7 and peg 16, the view shows the canopy in a fully erected position.
FIGURE 2 shows a side view of the air dryer with air dryer cord 8 air dryer supports 5 only two shown, secondary air dryer supports 12 only two shown, main central bearing 2,secondary central bearing 3, post 9, pivots 7, hoolts 6 and a peg 16, the view shows the air dryer in Q fully erected position.
FIGURE 3 shows a top view looking down, canopy supports 1, air dryer supports 5, radiate from the main central bearing 2, canopy 11 with canopy corner pockets 13 and canopy straps 10 to hold the canopy in position, and hooks 6 to hold the air dryer cord 8 in position, the view shows the canopy and air dryer in a fully erected position.
FIGURE 4 shows a top view end side view of the main central bearing 2, a low friction material is used, the main central bearing comprises of two parts, main central bearing 2 and the outer bearing ring 15 with pints 7, the outer bearing ring 15 rotates the main central bearing 2, the main central bearing 2 is held in position to the post 9 using a screw 14.
FIGURE {5 shows a top view and side view of the secondary central bearing 3, a low friction material is used, the secondary central bearing 3 consists of two parts, secondary central bearing 3 and the outer bearing ring 15 with pivots 7, the outer bearing ring 15 rotates the secondary central bearing 3, the secondary central bearing 3 slides along the post 9 from a collapsible position to fully opened position and held in place using a spring clip type of catch or peg 16.
FIGURE 6 shows part of the secondary air dryer support 12, the secondary air dryer support consists of two parts, inner rod 17, outer rod with pin 18, when the canopy and air dryer is fully erected the inner rod 17 slides along the outer rod 18 until it is stopped by the pin fitted to the outer rod 18, when the canopy and air dryer is being collapsed the inner rod 17 slides away from the outer rod pin 18 but not enough for the two rods to come apart.
