Abstract

An adjustable bra with at least one support 13 for engaging a shoulder of a wearer in use, where the support 13 can be attached to the body of the bra at one of a plurality of positions as selected by the wearer. The bra allows the wearer to alter the supports 13 position so that the alignment of the support 13 is least visible under the garment being worn. The support 13 may have a hook 21 at each end of the support 13 which may be engaged into a plurality of loops 16 or eyes (17, Fig 2) positioned on the wings 14 and cups 12. One end of the support 13 may be non adjustable on the body of the bra. Alternatively the end of the supports 13 may slide along a rail/runner (fig 3) positioned on the cups 12 and/or wings 14 of the bra. The position of the support 13 may be varied without disengaging the support 13 from the rest of the bra.

Description

ADJUSTABLE BRA
This invention relates to an adjustable bra.
In the present day it is fashionable to wear clothing which exposes the shoulders and arms of the wearer. This presents a problem for women who would normally need support for Me breasts by the aid of a bra, because with every top that we buy with straps, the strap positions vary considerably, and nearly always do not align perfectly with the straps of the bra being worn underneath.
Alignment diffictilbes can also be found when wearing tops with sleeves if the neckline is particularly wide or has a low back.
These problems are also encountered by women with smaller breasts, who may not need the support of a bra, but still prefer to wear one under outer garments for a variety of reasons, i.e. wearing a padded bra to enlarge the appearance of the breast size, material of the outer garment may be made of see-
through material, etc. This present invention provides a solution to the difficulties surrounding aligunent or exposure of the straps on a bra with an outer garment.
The invention works by allowing the wearer to manually move the bra straps to the best position for this alignment or concealment.
The following text with the aid of illustrations, will describe the different variations on how the adjustable bra invention works.
Figure 1 shows a first embodiment of adjustable bra according to the present invention.
Figure 2 shows a second embodiment of adjustable bra according to the present invention.
Figure 3 shows a third embodiment of adjustable bra according to the present invention.
Figure I This illustration shows the inside view of a bra with a selection of loops t6 on the cup 12 and also a selection of loops 15 on the wings 14 to which the supports 13 (i.e. straps) can be connected in a variety of positions by use of a traditional bra strap connector 2t.
This design could come as illustrated: or with only a selection of loops on the cup 12 and a single loop on each of the wings 15: or alternatively with a selection of loops on the wings 14 and a single loop on each of the cups 12.
The bra could also be available with the supports 13 being in a variety of widths, which would also aid the alignment of them with the outer gennent The length of the supports (snaps) is preferably adjustable.
Figure 2 This illustration is the same as Figure 1, except hooks and eyes have been substituted as a different means of connecting the support to the bra. On the support 13, hooks 22 are now used at either end to connect with eyes 17 on the cups 12 and eyes 18 on the wings 14.
A variation on Figure 2 would be that the selection of eyes t7 on the cups could be combined with a non-moving support on the wings 14 or, alternatively, a selection of eyes 18 on the wings 14 could be combined with a non-moving support on the cups t2.
As mentioned before, the bra could also be available with the supports 13 being in a variety of widths, which would also aid the aligarnent of them with the outer garment.
Fieure 3 This illustration is once again a variation on Figure 1, except that end support 13 can slide a distance 19 20 along a respective runner on the cups 12 and wings 14 to achieve the various positions, without the supports 13 actually disengaging from the rest of the bra This invention could also be available with the sliding supports only on the cups 12 or wings 14 with the opposite end of the support static.
It will of cause be understood that the present invention has been described above purely by way of example, and that modifications of detail can be made within the scope of the appended claims.
