Abstract
The sleeper has a central groove with entry and exit points at end nosings to accept cabling. Cables are retained by bridging straps. The sleeper has passages for cables where rails are supported, and end noses.
Description
r4 Cablesafe steel railway sleeper. 2391 244 Description.
This design of railway sleeper is for a one piece item designed to be installed in normal railway Sickbeds to give a safe route for cross back signalling and communication cabling. It would be installed by conventional methods.
Unlike a standard steel sleeper this would have a number of holes, grooves and features to provide sport and protection for cable routing. It would also be of extended length to give protection to cabling approaching and leaving He crossing point of Me track.
The main features are the extended nosing ( diagram 1) to provide an entry/exit point, the flutes around the tail funny point (diagram 1), the central recessed groove to catty cabling along the sleeper (diagram 1) and the bridging sums which Win the cables in the groove(diagm 1).
Cables would be installed through Be nosing, flutes and groove as shown in diadems 1 2.
