Abstract

239,049. Warren, T. W. Sept. 8, 1924. Sparking-plugs.-The insulation consists of glass which is forced in a molten condition through an opening 12 in the side of the casing. Internally, the casing is left rough so as to afford a more perfect bond between the glass and metal. At its inner end the central electrode 3 is split to form a pair of terminals 37. The part 35 is situated in a recess 6 formed in the inner end of the insulator, and the outer part of the electrode is separated by asbestos packing 34 from the surrounding glass. The cupped washer 32 is welded to the central electrode.
