Abstract

An aperture seal comprises a panel having a frame 4, 6, 7 and an inflatable seal 1 which fits around the edges of the panel. The inflatable seal 1 comprises one or more inflatable tubes and has a valve 2 which is protected by a removable cover 9. To seal an opening the panel is placed within the opening and located with pins 11. The tubes are inflated to seal the gap between the panel and the sides 3 of the aperture.

Description

<Desc/Clms Page number 1>
Aperture Seal The invention relates to a panel with a seal between the panel and the inside edge of an aperture.
A typical application for this invention would be to stop floodwater from entering a building through openings.
An object of this invention is to allow access and/or ventilation to a building in flood conditions.
Accordingly this invention provides a perfect seal by inflating a tube or tubes between the panel and the aperture.
The frame of the aperture seal can be made of wood (as shown in the drawings), but could be made from either aluminium, or plastic extrusions, or a combination of any of these materials.
A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings in which Figure 1 shows a front elevation of a door frame with the pneumatic seal in place. The front panel 5 is not shown for clarity.
Figure 2 is a part sectional view through the centre of Figure 1. on line A-A of the front elevation Figure 1.
Figure 3 is section through 1,3, 5,7, and 10. on line B-B of Fig. l Figure 4 is a section through 1,5, 6,8, and 10. on line C-C of Fig.

Referring to the drawing, the pneumatic seal 1 is held in place in a channel around the edge of a frame 4,6, 7. The valve 2 and tube 1 is protected at the top by a removable cover 9 as shown in Figure 2.
To seal the opening, the panel 4, 5,6, 7, is placed within the frame 3, and located with two pins, 11 the seal 1 is then inflated.
Where access is not feasible a complete seal around the entire aperture 3 is possible.
