Abstract

237,803. Smith, G. A. Jan. 13, 1925. Umbrella racks and stands.-A show case comprises a series of discs 12 - - 14 with registering openings 18 for umbrellas &c. spaced on a sleeve 11 on a vertical shaft 10 rotating in a hollow post 7 secured centrally in a base 1 open at the top, the lowest disc 14 being of annular stepped formation with notches 19 in line with the openings in the discs. The top disc 12 is located above, and covers the hole 6 in the top 5 of the base 1, which may carry a, transparent upper portion with a transparent hinged door. Anti-friction bearings 17 are disposed between the disc 14 and the top of the post 7. The umbrellas 20 are supported as shown and, when withdrawn, may be placed on a shelf 21 hinged at its lower edge 22 to the front of the base 1. An arm 23 fixed on the shelf projects into the base and is frictionally held between a block fixed on the inner wall of the base and a spring-pressed strip 25 spaced from the block, so that the shelf is held in a vertical or inclined position.
