Abstract
237,790. Turner, E. W. Dec. 8, 1924. Rotary distributors in which the fixed contacts are carried by a disc formed of moulded insulating material such as bakelite, are provided with means to prevent the burning of this material at the points where arcing occurs due to the making and breaking of the ignition circuits, the insulating supporting body being reinforced at such points by insulating material consisting of laminated fibre or bakelite. As shown in Figs. 1 and 4, pieces 11 of this laminated material are placed in recesses at each side of the fixed contacts 7 which are mounted in the front face of the supporting disc 1 of moulded bakelite. In the modified form shown in Figs. 5 and 6 a ring 14 of the laminated insulating material is secured to the front face of the supporting disc 13 of moulded insulating material, the fixed contacts 15 being let into recesses 16 in this ring so that a plane contact raceway is produced. Keying projections 17 may project from the rear disc 1 into corresponding recesses in the contacts. Terminal connections pass through to the rear of the supporting disc.
