PONCHO for ROTARY DRYERS This invention relates to an'all weather'Poncho style covering that can be fitted to any existing external rotary dryer for the protection of clothes hanging on the line.

External Rotary Dryers are used to dry clothes by the application of sunshine and wind. However they suffer from the disadvantage that the occasional shower or passing migratory bird can quickly setback the state of dryness or cleanness of the articles.

The object of this invention is to provide physical protection to the articles drying on the line and increase the drying ability of the line whilst maintaining ease of access to the articles.

It is made from a sheet of waterproof material, it has a central hole both for ventilation/drainage, * it uses the rotary line to provide its water shedding shape, w it overhangs the outside of the rotary line to protect from driving rain, * it can be easily fitted to any existing multi-arm rotary dryers, and * it can remain fitted even when the dryer has been collapsed for storage.

The Poncho would probably be made from a clear plastic to create a green house effect, but may instead be manufactured in a breathable waterproof material, perhaps coloured or decorated to blend into a typical garden environment.

One such embodiment of the invention is described below with reference to the accompanying drawing Figure 1-Section Through Poncho.

The universal Poncho 1 is circular in shape with a central circular hole 2. Specific tailored Ponchos to suit three-armed dryers would have a triangular plan elevation and similarly four-armed dryers would be square.

The central hole 2 allows for liquids to run off down the dryers 4 central post, increases air flow through the articles on the line promoting drying, whilst at the same time reducing the tendency for the upper surface to flap.

The Poncho 1 is fitted centra ! ! y over the existing rotary dryer 4. so as to lie on top of the washing lines and overhanging the outer line.

The Poncho is held in place by the use of standard pegs 3 (or other fixing onto the end of the arms) onto the washing lines.

If the Poncho is pre-fitted, the clothes to be dried are fixed to the line by lifting the Poncho's side overhang back over the top of the dryer. The clothes are lifted under the washing lines and pegged in the normal way, locally lifting the Poncho clear. Alternatively, the Poncho 1 can be quickly fitted after pegging out all the clothes on to the dryer.

1. CLAIMS 1. A covering that fixes to a rotary dryer to provide protection for the articles drying on the lines.
2. 2. A cover as claim 1, that enhances the ability to dry articles hung on the lines.
3. 3. A cover as claim 1 and 2, that uses the shape of the rotary dryer to provide its water shedding shape.
4. 4. A cover as claimed in any preceding claim, with central hole and overhanging sides.
5. 5. A cover as claimed in any preceding claim that is made out of plastics or waterproof material that maybe decorated.
6. 6. A cover for rotary dryers substantially as herein described and illustrated in the accompanying drawing.
