Abstract

The flood barrier comprises a housing 83 removably fixable to the periphery of an aperture, a barrier 80, and a compression means which seals the barrier to the housing. Preferably resilient layer 130 is located in the housing, the barrier is planar and rectangular in shape, is hollow, includes one or more strengthening members, and another resilient layer is included between the housing and periphery of aperture. The resilient layers may include one or more splines, the barrier may include a flange to retain the sealing material, the compression means may include a rotatable pawl 97 or cam mechanism, and the barrier may consist of a plurality of portions allowing the size of the barrier to be varied. Also disclosed is a method of providing such a flood barrier.
