Abstract

237,482. Hales, W., and Patent Textile Rollers (1923), Ltd. Dec. 3, 1924. Rollers.-The rubber surface of a roller of a fibre-drawing or like textile machine is secured to a metal hoop which is detachably fastened to the body of the roller. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the hoop 1 carrying the rubber surface 2 has an inwardly-projecting part 6 bolted to the body 3 of the roller. In a modification, the inwardly-projecting part 4, Fig. 3, is clamped between rings 8 which are themselves clamped between parts 3<1> on the roller, or the hoop may have a wide inwardly-projecting part clamped between rings by bolts passing through the roller body. In the form shown in Fig,. 4, the hoop 1 has an internal coned portion 4 shaped to engage a collar 11 on the shaft 10 and screwed internally to receive a screw having a coned portion. The screw and cone may be split or a split cone may be made separate from the screw. The collar 11 may be further held to the part 11' by a coned grub screw. Instead of a plain collar 11, the collar may be screwed to engage the interior of the hoop. In a further modification, a screw engaging the shaft and working in the screwed end of the hoop is adapted to engage the collar 11. In the form shown in Fig. 8, the hoops 1 carrying the rubber surfaces 2 engage recesses in the body part 3a of the roller and are engaged at their outer ends by recessed rings 8, the parts being clamped by bolts. Washers may be provided between the rings 8 and the ends of the hoops. Means may be provided for preventing relative movement between the hoops and the body of the roller.
