Abstract

237,406. Armitage, J. June 13, 1924. Lubricant conveyed by mechanical means.-In a lubricator system for Ford motor-vehicles in which oil brought up by the flywheel and magnets is caught in an inclined trough T secured to the underside of the transmission cover-plate and delivered through a pipe P to the engine crank case, a second inclined trough L arranged beneath the trough T receives a part of the oil and delivers it to the brake and gear bands. The inclination of the upper trough is such that no oil is delivered to the crank case when the vehicle is descending a hill, while the lower trough is arranged so that the supply to the bands is continuous. A slot X in the upper trough allows oil to pass therefrom into the lower trough.
