Description
KNITTING MACHINE BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
This invention relates to a knitting machine capable of knitting ground mesh, plating and lacoste fabrics and particularly a knitting machine that is capable of knitting ground mesh, plating and lacoste in same fabric.
Jacquard knitting machines that can produce fancy patterns are well developed and widely used in the textile industry nowadays.
In order to give the jacquard patterns more colorful change, one of the conventional knitting techniques is using discoloration means for feeding yarns, another technique is to thread yams of different color through the yarn feeder. Using these techniques may produce colored fabrics which have different colors at two sides of color fabric or lace. In order to make aforesaid fabrics having color variation, colored yams should be added to the regular yarn feeding means. This needs additional efforts and time, and the knitted fabrics usually have fixed color patterns.
Furthermore, conventional methods for knitting ground mesh, plating and lacoste fabrics usually do the knitting separately. The finished laces have only single color or pattern, and do not have much appealing.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
In view of aforesaid disadvantages, it is therefore an object of this invention to provide an improved knitting machine that is
capable of knitting ground mesh, plating and lacoste in one lace fabric.
Another object of this invention is to dispose a discoloration means and yam feeder at the same knitting machine for producing color changing lace fabrics.
In order to achieve the foregoing object, the knitting machine according to this invention includes a yam feeder, a knitting needle mounted on a cylinder, a first jack extended from the rear end of the knitting needle, a second jack engaged with the rear end of the first jack, a cam means for driving the knitting needle and first jack, a needle selector located in a needle selection cap that also may drive the second jack, and a discoloration means mounted on the yam feeder. By means of the construction set forth above, the knitting machine is capable of knitting ground mesh, plating and lacoste in the same lace fabric, and may also produce double face or single face discoloration lace fabric through the discoloration means.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
The invention, as well as its many advantages, may be further understood by the following detailed description and drawings, in which:
FIG. 1 is a fragmentary exploded view of this invention.
FIG. 2 is an enlarged fragmentary schematic view of a yam feeder of this invention.
FIG. 3, 4 and 5 are schematic views showing needle heel moved
in the cam means at different positions.
FIG. 6 is an enlarged pictorial view of a jacquard pattern produced by this invention.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
Referring to FIGS. 1 and 2, the knitting machine (not shown in the figures) of this invention includes a yam feeder 1, a knitting needle 2 mounted in a cylinder (not shown in the figures), a first jack 4 extended from the rear end of the needle 2, a second jack 5 engaged with the rear end of the first jack 4, a first cam means 3 and a second cam means 3'for driving the needle 2 and first jack 4, a needle selector 6 disposed in a needle cap (not shown in the figures) for driving the second jack 5 to produce jacquard patterns, and a discoloration means 15 disposed in the yam feeder 1.
Through the construction set forth above, this invention is capable of producing ground mesh, plating and lacoste in the same lace fabric, and may also produce double face discoloration or single face discoloration lace fabric through the discoloration means 15.
The yam feeder 1 has yam eyes 11, 12 and a sink section 13. The yams eyes 11 and 12 have respectively a base yam 7 and muffler 8 threading therethrough.
The knitting needle 2 has a needle heel 21 and a pivotal section 22.
The first jack 4 has a first stem foot 41 and a pivotal fastening end 42 located at one end for pivotally engaging with the pivotal section 22.
The second jack 5 has a second stem foot 51 and a slot 52 formed at one end for engaging with the rear end of the first jack 4.
The first cam means 3 has an outer groove 31 which has a first raising cam dial 3 la located therein, and an inner groove 32 which has a second raising cam dial 32a located therein.
The second cam means 3'has an outer groove 31'which has a first welt cam dial 31a'located therein, and an inner groove 32' which has a second raising cam dial 32a'located therein.
The needle selector 6 is controlled by an external computer and includes a plurality of selector plates 61 which may be raised to a horizontal level (which are at a lower position under the regular conditions) under the computer control. The selector plates 61 may push the second stem foot 51 from below to move the second jack 5.
The discoloration means 15 will bring the color yam to the sink section 13 when knitting the discoloration lace fabrics for raising the knitting needle 2 to pick up the color yam. The knitting machine thus constructed is capable of producing ground mesh, plating and lacoste in the same lace fabric, and may also produce double face discoloration or single face discoloration lace fabrics.
Referring to FIGS 2 and 3, when the first cam means 3 is driven by the knitting machine, the discoloration means 15 will bring the color yams to the sink section 13. The needle heel 21 and first stem foot 41 enter respectively into the outer groove 31 and inner groove 32. The needle 2 is raised upward resulting from the needle heel 21 being driven by the left slope side of the second raising cam dial
32a, then the needle 2 picks up a base yam 7 and a color yam because of the sinking of the first raising dial 31 a, then moves into the outer groove 31'and inner groove 32'and is raised again resulting from the needle heel 21 being driven by the left slope side of the second raising cam 32', then sinks again following the stitch cam 31b', and produces a plating effect shown in FIG. 6 (A portion).
Referring to FIG. 4, after the needle 2 and first jack 4 finished the journey in the first cam means 3, they enter the second cam means 3'through the outer groove 31'and inner groove 32' ; when the needle 2 moves along the welt cam 31 a', the selector plate 61 is at the needle selection state and will push the second stem foot 51 of the second jack 5 and in the mean time keeps the first stem foot 41 away from the second raising cam 32a', in other words, slips from outside of the second raising cam 32a', hence the needle 2 sinks along the stitch cam 31b'and results in a welt and does not pick up the muffler yam 8. This process will produce a ground mesh jacquard fabric as shown in FIG. 6 (B portion).
Referring to FIG. 5, the needle 2 and needle heel 21 and the first stem foot 41 enter respectively in the outer groove 31 and inner groove 32, the needle 2 is raised resulting from the needle heel 21 being pushed upward by the left slope of the second raising cam 32a; when the needle heel 21 is raised to the plateau of the first raising cam 3 la, the selection plate 61 is at a needle selection state and pushes the second stem foot 51 from under and keeps the first
stem foot 41 away from the second raising cam 32a, i. e. slips from outside of the second raising cam 32a, hence the needle 2 sinks along the first raising cam 3 la, then enters into the outer groove 31'and inner groove 32', the needle heel 21 is pushed upward again by the left slope of the second raising cam 32a', and sinks again along the stitch cam 3 b'without picking up the muffler yam 8. This process will produce lacoste effect shown in FIG. 6 (C portion).
By means of the construction set forth above, the knitting machine of this invention is capable of producing a lace fabric which includes ground mesh, plating and lacoste effect whereby to increase jacquard patterns. Coupling with the discoloration means 15, the lace fabric may have multiple color changing effect.
It may thus be seen that the objects of the present invention set forth herein, as well as those made apparent from the foregoing description, are efficiently attained. While the preferred embodiment of the invention has been set forth for purpose of disclosure, modifications of the disclosed embodiments of the invention as well as other embodiments thereof may occur to those skilled in the art. Accordingly, the appended claims are intended to cover all embodiments which do not depart from the spirit and scope of the invention.
