Abstract
The flood barrier has a body 1 with a gasket 2, and is fitted over an entrance to a dwelling. It may be fabricated of glass fibre covered plywood, and may have adjustable fittings to secure it in place. These fittings may consist of hook and eye, or screws or bolts. The barrier may be removed when not in use.
Description
This invention relates to flood prevention of households, its name is FLOODOOR.
The vast majority of flooding in dwellings relate to the ingress of water through the entrance doors. This is due mainly to the fact that the doors must open, usually inwards, and their construction does not allow full and complete water tightness. This invention will combat the problem.
With ever greater frequency of flood problems, especially on the flood plains, this coupled with insurance company's reluctance to insure some properties, an easy fit barrier can now be used.
According to present invention, there is provided an outer half door (FLOODOOR) stopping water getting to the entrance door at the critical points, namely the threshold and bottom 1000mm's. It is fabricated of glass fibre covered plywood with fittings to secure it in place.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:
Figure 1. Shows in perspective, the outer half door.
Figure 2. Illustrates the half door in position over an entrance.
Referring to the drawings, the main body (Fig 1) comprieses of a fabricated case No 1.
Gasket on inner edge No 2.
Adjustable fittings to hold in place (not shown)
There are also Permanent fittings that have to be fixed to the sides of the entrance (not shown).
The whole assembly is placed and secured over the entrance (Fig 2).
Referring to the drawings the FLOODOOR comprises of the main body (no. l) secured over the entire entrance with the gasket (no. 2) against the structural sides of the entrance, with fittings such as hook and eye or screw bolts or similar (not shown).
Claims (1)
- CLAIMS 1 With FLOODOOR fitted over the door entrance water to a depth of one Metre will not enter the dwelling through the threshold or jambs to that height.
