Abstract
A non-allergenic child's duvet can be divided into two pans so that it can be laundered at home. The two pans are joined by a plastics zip fastener. On the underside of the duvet, the fastener is covered by a flap of material held in place by press-studs; on the topside, the fastener is covered by an overhang of the duvet itself. The duvet comprises a 50:50 cotton/polyester cover and a filling of hollow polyester fibre.

This invention refers to a childrens duvet.
Currently, childrens duvets are in one piece and are too big to wash in most domestic washing machines, and too big to dry in most domestic tumble dryers.
This is extremely inconvenient when your child is sick or wets the bed, or otherwise gives cause to wash the duvet.
My invention makes the situation for parents a lot easier and more hygenic. The duvet is detachable to enable parents to wash and dry it immediatly when required, rather than taking it to a launderette.

The duvet is single child size. 126 centimeters wide and 185 centimeters long and fits into standard size single duvet covers.
It will be available in various"tog" (warmth) ratings ; 4.5, 7.5, 10. 5,12, 13.5, and 15.
It is filled with hollow polyester fibre. The cover is made from 50% cotton and 50% polyester which is non-allergenic.
There is a plastic washable zip running widthways through the middle of the duvet, to divide the duvet into two, consequently, making it small enough to wash at home in two seperate washes and dry at home in two seperate drying cycles.
The duvet is stitched right through in five lengthway rows (equally divided) to hold the filling in place whilst being washed. (per half duvet).
The duvet has on the underside, a flap of material which completly covers the zip, sewn across the duvet running parallel 3 centimeters away from the zip. The otherside of the flap has four press-studs (one on each corner and the other two equally spaced inbetween) to hold the flap in place whilst covering the zip.
The press studs will clip down 3 centimeters from the other side of the zip. The purpose of this is to stop draughts and avoid a coldspot. (see diagram 2).
The topside of the zip is covered by an overhang of duvet, which will again stop a coldspot occurring and will also feel more comfortable than the zip. (see diagram 3).
Piping is sewn around the edges on both halves of the duvet to strengthen them. (see diagram 4).
Claims (3)
1. A washable non-allergenic childrens duvet with zip to reduce it's overall size by half.
2. A childrens duvet with zip comfort cover, completly covering the zip.
3. A childrens duvet where the duvet is sewn to cover the zip.
