Abstract
The invention comprises a disposable, biodegradable container. It is free-standing, water-resistant, has a secure lid and wide opening. It is hygienic and environmentally friendly for the purpose of ultimate disposal onto the garden compost, together with the biodegradable kitchen waste therein. The container takes the form of a box with a hinged, integral lid secured shut by a catch 3.
Description
CONTAINER FOR THE COLLECTION OF BIODEGRADABLE KITCHEN RUBBISH
This invention relates to a container for the collection of biodegradable kitchen rubbish.
Containers currently used for the collection of biodegradable kitchen rubbish are made from a variety of materials which are not biodegradable, such as plastic and china.
These containers need to be emptied before being washed out for re-use or, in the case of plastic bags, are thrown away.
Moreover, the containers can be unhygienic and unsightly. Biodegradable kitchen rubbish adheres to the surface of the container. Cleaning the container is, therefore, an odious task.
Without a secure lid, they tend to: become overfilled produce spores emit unpleasant odours attract insects
According to the present invention there is provided a biodegradable, water-resistant and securely lidded container to stand on the kitchen surface for the collection of biodegradable kitchen rubbish. This container is designed to be deposited, as a whole, onto the garden compost when the user deems fit.
A specification showing the invention will now be described by way of examples with reference to the accompanying drawings.
Figure 1 shows in perspective the box with the lid open.
Figure 2 shows the box with the lid secure.
Referring to the drawing as shown in figure 1, the container comprises a biodegradable water-resistant box with a secure lid 2, for the containment of biodegradable kitchen rubbish.
The container has a wide opening for the easy emptying of kitchen rubbish from plates.
The lid 2 in closed position as shown in figure 2, is secured shut by means of a catch 3, or similar means. When full the whole box is then easily deposited on to the garden compost.
It can be provided in flat pack form for easy self-assembly or can be ready made.
