Abstract

A baby change and bath platform (1) has a rigid single piece structure in the form of a flat rectangular surface which spans the open area of all sizes of baby cots, utilising the two side rails of the cot as supports and the end panels of the cot as stops. Four moulded fixed stops (2) located on the underside of the platform (1) prevent movement off the cot rails and hold it in a safe and static position. Hand holes (3) cut into the platform (1) on each of its four sides allow for easy manipulation of the platform (1) when lifting or carrying it.

Description

1 2364912 1 BABY CHANGE AND BATH PLATFORM This invention relates to a baby
change and bath platform that is a rigid one piece structure in the shape of a flat rectangular surface.
Baby changers and baby change stations are well known, but suffer from the disadvantage of only being capable of supporting a single baby change mat or bath tub at any one time. Many of these products have been designed to be free standing and are fitted to the tops of cabinets either housing drawers or shelves and are additional items of furniture in a baby's bedroom or nursery.
An object of the invention is to provide a baby changing area that provides enough surface cover to accommodate a baby changing mat, bath tub, towels and a baby box containing toiletries. Another important factor of this invention is that it allows for all the changing and cleaning functions to be undertaken within the same area and at optimum height, so alleviating the necessity to bend or kneel awkwardly.
2 Accordingly this baby change and bath platform has been calculated to span the open area of all sizes of baby cots, utilising the two side rails as supports and the end panels of the cot as stops. Four moulded fixed stops located on the underside of the platform prevent movement off the cot rails and hold it in a safe and static position. Space within the baby's bedroom or nursery is kept to a premium as the platform is easily lifted into and out of position and stored away when not in use. Manipulation of the baby change and bath platform is aided by the readily accessible hand holes cut into it.
Preferably the baby change and bath platform is made of plastics material, but it may be made from wood to match the furniture in a bedroom or nursery, or from a combination of these materials.
A preferred embodiment of the invention will be described with reference to the accompanying drawing in which:
FIGURE 1 shows the baby change and bath platform from above.
FIGURE 2 shows the baby change and bath platform from a side view. FIGURE 3 shows the baby change and bath platform from underneath.
3 As shown in figure 1 the baby change and bath platform 1 is a rigid one piece structure in a rectangular shape, having hand holes 3 cut into it at each of its four sides.
FIGURE 2 shows the baby change. and bath platform 1 as a rigid one piece structure with moulded fixed stops 2 positioned at each corner.
FIGURE 3 shows the baby change and bath platform 1 as a rigid one piece structure in a rectangular shape, with moulded fixed stops 2 at each corner on its underside and hand holes 3 cut into the platform 1 on each of its four sides.

Claims (2)

  1. A baby change and bath platform that is a rigid one piece structure in the shape of a flat rectangular surface which has been calculated to span the open area of all sizes of baby cot utilising the two side rails as supports and the end panels of the cot as stops. Four moulded fixed stops located on the underside of the platform prevent movement off the cot rails and hold it in a safe and static position.
    Amendments to the claims have been filed as lollows 5- CLAIMS A baby change and bath platform comprising a rigid one piece structure in the shape of a flat rectangular surface, and fin-ther comprising four moulded fixed stops each located at a respective corner of the platform and which prevent sideways movement of the platform off a baby cot.
  2. 2 A baby change and bath platform as claimed in claim 1 with hand holes cut into each side of the platform.
