Abstract

A flashing indicator to be worn on the hand comprises a flashing light/battery unit 1 mounted on an adjustable strap 3. The flashing light is operated using the switch 2 integral to the strap and positioned so the thumb easily operates it. The lens of the flashing unit may be orange and the light may comprise a plurality of LED's.

Description

2360575 Directional Indicator This invention relates to a directional
indicator, e.g. for use with a bicycle or any road vehicle not fitted with indicators.
Whilst directional indicators may be used by anyone wishing to increase the clarity of their hand signals, a major application would be to make a cyclist's signals to other road users clearer.
According to the present invention there is provided a 'Handicator'. This device comprises a flashing light/battery unit and a switch mounted on a strap that is worn comfortably on the hand.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:
Fig. 1 shows the device in profile and the position of the thumb switch.
Fig.2 shows the Handicator mounted on the strap and the low profile of the switch.
Referring to the drawings the device comprises a flashing light battery unit 1, a thumb switch 2, and an adjustable, elasticated strap 3.
Whilst cycle lights utilising light-emitting-diodes (LEDs) are presently available in shops, this invention differs in its mode of design, operation and application:
Design: By being strap mounted and of a size and style enabling it to be worn on the hand. By the strap being adjustable. By the lens colour being orange (as car indicators).
Operation: By the device being operable with the thumb button. One touch switches the Handicator on for the duration of the signal and one touch switches it off.
Application: By using the device to indicate direction (as car indicators) 1

Claims (5)

Claims
1. A device called a'Handicator.'
2. A device as claimed in Claim 1 that comprises a flashing light/battery unit mounted on an adjustable and flexible strap intended for wearing on the hand.
3. A device as claimed in Claim 2 that comprises at least six flashing lightemitting-diodes (LEDs) controlled by an integral printed circuit board (PC13) and batteries under an orange lens.
4. A device as claimed in Claim 2 or Claim 3 that is operated by a strap mounted switch. The switch being of a size and in a position making it easily operable by thumb.
5. A device substantially as described herein with references to Figures 1 & 2 of the accompanying drawings.
