Abstract

A corkscrew comprises a tubular turning cap 3, a tubular cork guide 1, a crank arm 5 to effect turning of the metal screw 2 and a wheel 4, attached to one end of the crank, to grip during turning. The tubular cork guide has a cap limit stop 6. The screw is moulded at one end to the tubular cap 3. The crank can pivot between a first operating position and a second storage position. In use, the guide 1 is positioned over the neck of a corked bottle and the cap 3 is turned clockwise using the crank 5 by gripping wheel 4, so that the screw 2 enters into the cork. When the screw 2 is fully inserted, the cap 3 meets the stop 6 and further clockwise turning draws the cork out of the bottle and into the guide 1, which grips the cork. In this way the cork is removed by one continuous movement. The cork can then be removed from the corkscrew by turning anticlockwise. The corkscrew is suitable for use by the elderly and people with arthritis or similar disabilities.

TBE ELIE CORKSCREW This invention relates to a wheel operated corkscrew.

Most corkscrews are difficult to use by old people and people with arthritis or similar disabilities. The wheel and 1 action of the Wheelie Corkscrew allows one continuous movement of turning the wheel and lever to remove a bottle cork.

There is a tubular cork guide 1. with a shaped cap limit stop 6. There is a metal corkscrew moulded at one end to the tubular turning cap 3. and pointed at the other end. There is a wheel 4. attached to a swivelling lever shaft 5, This lever can be raised for operation and lowered for stowage.
