Description
1 2358002 HANDLEBAR
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a handlebar, which can be used on bicycles of various types.
There are many types of bicycles, each of them having a specific use, e.g. for urban riding, for cross-country riding, for racing and for riding up hills.
The bicycles of the above said uses each has a specific type of handlebar, i.e. a handlebar used on one kind of the bicycles cannot be used on another kind. Therefore, the handlebars have very limited use. And, the manufacturers of bicycles have to make many types of handlebars.
15SUMMARY OF THE INVENTON
Therefore, it is a main object of the present invention to provide a handlebar which can be used on all types of bicycles, i.e. the rider of the bicycle with the present handlebar can hold the handlebar from various positions according to his/her needs.
The handlebar comprises:
a main support having a connecting rod and two connecting heads; the connecting heads are each shaped like a "T"; the connecting rod has two ends each connected to a respective one of the connecting heads; a curved member having two ends; the two ends are each connected to 2 a respective one of the connecting heads; two bent rod members each having a connecting part; the connecting parts of the bent rod members are each connected to a respective one of the connecting heads; the bent rod members each further has a first holding bar part and a second holding bar part; the handlebar being connected to a bicycle stem from the middle part of the connecting rod.
The rider of the bicycle with the present handlebar can hold the handlebar from the connecting heads or the curved member or the bent rod members to adjust his/her position to an optimum one.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
The present invention will be better understood by reference to the accompanying drawings, wherein:
Fig. 1 is an exploded perspective view of a handlebar of the present invention.
Fig. 2 is a side view of a handlebar of the present invention.
Fig. 3 is a front view of a handlebar of the present invention.
Fig. 4 is a top view of a handlebar of the present invention.
Fig. 5 is a fragmentary view of a bicycle with the handlebar in Fig. 1.
Fig. 6 is a view showing a first way of holding the handlebar.
Fig. 7 is a view showing a second way of holding the handlebar.
Fig. 8 is a view showing a third way of holding the handlebar.
Fig. 9 is a view showing a fourth way of holding the handlebar.
3 Fig. 10 is a view showing another use of the curved member of the handlebar.
Fig. 11 is a side view of the handlebar according to the second embodiment of the present invention.
Fig. 12 is a side view of the handlebar in Fig. 11, held by a rider.
DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
Referring to Fig. 1, a handlebar of the present invention comprises a main support 1, a curved member 2 and two bent rod members 3.
The main support 1 consists of a connecting rod 11' and two connectin heads 12. The connecting heads 12 each is substantially 9 shaped like a "T", and has a first connecting hole 124, a second connecting hole 125 and a third connecting hole 126. The connecting heads 12 each further has a first screw hole 121 in open communication with the first connecting hole 124, and has a second and a third screw holes 122, 123 in open communication with the second and the third connecting holes 125, 126 respectively.
The connecting rod 11 also has screw holes 111 on two end portions thereof Two ends of the connecting rod 11 are passed into the first connecting holes of the connecting heads 12; screws 113 are screwed into the screw holes 111 and 121 to fix the connecting heads 12 to the connecting rod 11.
The curved member 2 also has two ends, each of the two ends having a screw hole(not numbered). The two ends of the curved member 2 are 4 each passed into a respective one of the third connecting holes 126 of the connecting heads 12; screws are screwed into the screw holes of the curved member 2 and the third screw holes 123 of the connecting heads 12 to fix the curved member 22 to the connecting heads 12.
The bent rod members 3 each has a connecting part 3 1, a first holding bar part 33 and a second holding bar part 34 (see Figs. 2,3 and 4). The connecting parts 31 have screw holes 311 thereon, and are each passed into a respective one of the second connecting holes 125 of the connecting heads 12. Thus, the bent rod members 3 are fixed to the connecting heads 12 of the main support 1, and oppose each other. The first holding bar part 33 and the second holding bar part 34 forms an angle in between.
To connect the handlebar to a bicycle, the main support 1 is connected to a fixing part 41 of a stem 4 of the bicycle from a middle portion of the connecting rod 11 (see Figs. 4 and 5).
Referring to Fig. 6, a rider of the bicycle can hold the handlebar of the present invention from the connecting heads 12.
Referring to Fig. 7, the rider can hold the handlebar from the curved member 2.
Referring to Fig. 8, the rider can hold the handlebar from the first holding bar parts 33.
Referring to Fig. 9, the rider can hold the handlebar from the second holding bar parts 34.
Referring to Fig. 10, the rider's elbows can rest on the curved member 2 when he/she holds the bent rod members 3.
Referring to Figs. 11 and 12, in a second embodiment of the present invention, the handlebar is inverted with the second holding bar parts 34 of the bent position. The bent rod members 3 can also be removed from the respective connecting heads 12, and then connected to the opposinc, connecting heads 12 in order to change the direction of the bent rod 5 members 3.
From the above description. the handlebar can be seen to have desirable features as follows.
1. The handlebar can be used in place of the traditional handlebars of various types. The rider can hold the handlebar from one of the above said portions thereof according to his/her needs.
2. The direction of the bent rod members 3 can be changed either by the manufacturers or by the rider according to his/her needs.
3. The curved member 2 can be provided for the rider's elbows to rest on.
4. The shape of the handlebar could attract buyers to buy the bicycles.
