Abstract

The invention describes a bag comprising a textile material preferably in the form of a teddy bear 2. The bag is preferably closed and has a seam line 4 running longitudinally and substantially centrally down the rear surface of the body of the bear. The bag preferably contains natural wheat impregnated with a fragrance. An opening 6 to a pouch (8, fig 2) is preferably provided along part of the seam line 4 at a region adjacent the head and neck of the bear in which a vial of fragrance may be stored.

Description

2355660 BAG The present invention relates to a bag and, in particular, to
a bag adapted to be filled with a fragranced stuffing material or a stuffing material which can be 5 impregnated with a scent.
Fragranced, stuffed bags are known, such as fragranced wheat bags. Typically, the fragrance diffuses over time and the stuffing material needs to be reimpregnated with a scent. Conventionally the stuffing is reimpregnated by sprinkling or pouring a perfume onto the bag, which generally comprises a textile material. However, this requires the user to store or purchase a bottle -of perfume for such use.
The present invention has been made from a consideration of the disadvantages associated with conventional fragranced, stuffed bags and in order to provide an improved bag which overcomes the above-mentioned disadvantages and which is more convenient to use. The bag of the invention also provides a more convenient and attractive method of selling replacement perfume in association with the fragranced bag.
According to the invention there is provided a bag fined or adapted to be filled with a stuffing material comprising a pouch adapted to receive a phial of fragranced fluid.
Preferably, the opening of said pouch is provided on an external surface of said bag. Preferably, said pouch extends transversely into said bag. Thus, preferably the opening of said pouch is provided on a surface of said bag and a base of said pouch is located internally of the bag, spaced from said bag surface.
Preferably, the pouch is substantially rectangular, although it will be appreciated that any suitable shape may be used. Preferably, the opening of said pouch is provided along one of the long edges of such rectangle. Preferably, the pouch opening is substantially co-linear with a seam of said bag.
Preferably, the bag comprises textile material. The bag may be any suitable shape but preferably is in the form of an animal or the like such as a teddy-bear.
Preferably, the pouch opening is provided on a rear surface of the bag. Preferably, the pouch comprises the same material as the main body of the bag.
Preferably, the bag is sealed or closed and contains stuffing material.
Preferably, the stuffing material is impregnated with or is adapted to be impregnated with a scent. Preferably, the stuffing material comprises wheat.
Preferably, the depth of the pouch is substantially between one third and two thirds the depth of the bag. Preferably, the pouch extends from a rear surface of the bag in the direction of the width of the bag.
The invention further includes. a bag according to the invention having a phial of fragranced fluid located in said pouch.
The invention further includes a fragranced wheatbag comprising a bag according to the invention containing wheat.
The invention will now be described further by way of example only with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:
Fig. 1 is a rear view of a bag according to one embodiment of the invention; and Fig. 2 is a cross-sectional view along the line A-A of figure 1.
Referring to the drawings, a bag according to an embodiment of the invention comprises textile material generally in the form of a teddybeat 2. The bag is closed and has a seam line 4 running longitudinally and substantially centrally down the rear surface of the body of the bear. The bag contains natural wheat impregnated with a fragrance. An opening 6 to a pouch 8 is provided along part of the seam line 4 at a region adjacent the head and neck of the bear.
The pouch 8 is substantially rectangular in shape and extends transversely from the rear surface of the bag into' the bag towards the front surface of the bag.
The depth of the pouch 8 is more than half the width of the bag so that the base 10 of the pouch lies closer to the front surface than the rear surface.
The pouch generally comprises two rectangular pieces of material sewn together along three sides thereof, the fourth side of each rectangular piece being sewn to respective parts of the main body of the bag to form the opening 6 to the pouch 8.
It will be appreciated that any suitably shaped bag body or pouch may be used. The opening 6 is provided on the rear surface of the bag. Since the pouch is closed along the three internal sides thereof, the wheat or stuffing material cannot enter the pouch.
A phial of fragrance or other suitable scent container may be located in the pouch and is easily accessible for use in sprinkling onto the bag when required. It will be seen that due to the construction of the bag of the invention, the phial is well protected by the stuffing material which surrounds the pouch. This gives protection to the phial during use of the bag, at the point of sale and during transport and packaging of the bag.
Furthermore, since the opening to the pouch may be narrow and located along a seam line and the main body of the pouch may be located inside the main 4 body of the bag, the pouch is well camouflaged and unobtrusive and thus does not detract from the overall appearance of the bag. This is particularly the case where the pouch comprises the same material as the main body of the bag.
