Abstract
An improved, refillable pillow sachet made of a fancy-cloth cover (12) and having a re-closable flap (16) on back of outer cover along with a secure closure method (18). In addition, a refillable pillow insert (14) made of plain-cloth and having an overlapping and under-lapping slot (26 & 28) closure in back portion, that may also include a secure closure method. The fancy-cloth sachet cover (12) has a closure method (18) preferably of Velco, button, snap, zipper, etc., so that outer cover (12) can be opened and closed repeatedly, to insert scented matter and/or refillable pillow insert (14), without damaging the fancy fabric of the sachet cover (12). The refillable pillow insert (14) back portion, is made of two pieces, a back and a middle section (22 & 24), of plain-cloth which are joined onto a one-piece, front section (20) along outer edges, but are not joined onto inner edges whereby making both sections overlap and under-lap each other thereby making an opening slot (26 & 28), to facilitate refilling with scented matter of desired fragrance and material.
Description
- This application is in reference to Provisional Utility Patent Application/Control No.: 60/175,718 with a filing date of Jan. 12, 2000.
- 1. Field of the Invention
- The present invention generally relates to the manufacturing of a refillable, outer, fancy-cloth, fancy-cloth pillow sachet cover and an inner, plain-cloth, refillable pillow insert, more particularly both having a re-closable opening in back of each where any type of scented material may be inserted and where both sachet and insert can be continually opened and closed easily and securely.
- 2. Description of Related Art
- Often, sachets are made to use for a short period of time and then thrown away once scent had faded. This makes it necessary to discard complete sachet, then to purchase an entirely new sachet, which is expensive to consumer. More particularly, previous sachets have no method of both inner and outer bags to be refilled and closed securely. Devices have been patented for packaging scented material. U.S. Pat. No. 5,899,790, issued to Berg, discloses a scented material container for lingerie and the like, shaped like a brasserie. U.S. Pat. No. 5,788,061, issued to Hammond, discloses a display sleeve or envelope that can be shipped folded flat, and then popped outwardly to an upstanding configuration of a generally closed-loop, A-shape for support on a surface. U.S. Pat. No. 5,503,332, issued to Glenn, discloses a scent packet, using a paper envelope. U.S. Pat. No. 4,854,501 issued to Ricci, discloses a fragrance sack with a rechargeable scented element. U.S. Pat. No. 2,720,419, issued to Eby, discloses a sachet, having a sealed end portion adjacent a compartment within the sachet. U.S. Pat. No. D404,201 issued to Wennerstrom, discloses an ornamental design for a sachet case.
- While the abovementioned designs are known, there still exists a need for a more easily refillable, economical, stain-free, and elegant, combination refillable fancy-cloth sachet cover and plain-cloth refill insert that will minimize the likelihood of fragrant scented oils, from the filling matter, to damage a fancy-cloth cover or other surfaces and also where any type of scented material may be inserted, but where both fancy-cloth sachet and plain-cloth insert can be easily opened and closed continuously and securely without damaging either.
- It is, therefore, the principal object of this invention to provide a refillable, outer, fancy-cloth pillow sachet cover having a re-closeable opening in back of fancy-cloth pillow sachet so as to fill with any type of scented material and also having an inner, plain-cloth refill pillow insert for enclosing scented material before inserting it into outer, fancy-cloth pillow sachet and furthermore giving outer, fancy-cloth pillow sachet and inner, plain-cloth refill pillow insert ability to be continually re-opened and re-closed for refilling, without damaging cloths and thereby provide an endlessly scented sachet.
- Objects and Advantages
- Accordingly, several objects and advantages of my invention are:
- a.) to provide a re-closeable opening in back of outer, fancy-cloth pillow sachet cover for inserting scented matter;
- b.) to provide an inner, plain-cloth refill pillow insert also having an overlapping, re-closable slot in back for inserting loose scented potpourri and any other scented material;
- c.) to provide an inner, plain-cloth refill pillow insert for filling with scented material so as to limit the possibility of staining outer, fancy-cloth pillow sachet cover and other surfaces;
- d.) to provide both fancy and plain-cloth pillows with the ability to be refilled and re-closed continually without damaging cloth pillows by closure method of possibly Velcro, button, snap, and other means;
- e.) to provide a re-closeable cloth sachet to close tightly enough so as to keep an extended fresh scent;
- f.) to provide an ongoing fresh scent without having to dispose entire outer, fancy-cloth sachet;
- g.) to provide a more economical means of a continuously fragrant sachet;
- h.) to provide an elegant looking outer, fancy-cloth pillow sachet cover using fancy fabrics preferably velvet, linen, lace, satin, etc. and having an elegant looking decorative edging on outer, fancy-cloth pillow sachet preferably fringe, ribbon, lace, beads, piping, etc. and possibly using gold and other colored monogramming on front side of outer, fancy-cloth pillow sachet cover;
- i.) to provide a elegant and fancy-cloth pillow sachet along with an inner, plain-cloth refill pillow insert whereby one may enclose any type of scented matter that one desires, as well as any fragrance desired;
- j.) to provide use preferably in drawers, suitcases, lingerie bags, cars, and wherever a fresh scent is desired.
- Further objects and advantages of my invention will become apparent from a consideration of the drawings and ensuing description.

- From the description above, a number of advantages of my refillable outer, fancy-cloth pillow sachet and inner, plain-cloth refill pillow insert become evident:
- a.) With the use of a refillable cloth sachet, one can remove scent-faded matter from a refillable sachet by simply opening the back and placing fresh potpourri, etc. into an outer, fancy-cloth pillow sachet; alternatively, one may choose to use a refillable inner, plain-cloth refill pillow insert to place loose potpourri into and then put plain-cloth refill pillow insert into outer, fancy-cloth pillow sachet.
- b.) By using such preferable closing methods as Velcro, buttons, snaps, zippers, etc. a refillable, outer, fancy-cloth pillow sachet will not be damaged by the constant opening and closing of bag.
- c.) The presence of a refillable outer, fancy-cloth pillow sachet, gives the consumer the ability to save on unnecessary purchases of entirely new potpourri bags, after the potpourri has, over time, lost its fragrance.
- d.) A variety of desired fragrances of potpourri, etc. may be changed, at any time, because of opening and an ability to replace scented matter at will.
- e.) With the option of using a refillable inner, plain-cloth pillow insert, the neatness of replacing loose potpourri, etc. into a fancy lace outer sachet will help to keep outer fancy-cloth pillow sachet more elegant as well as clean looking.
- Operation-FIGS. 1A and 1B
- As shown in FIG1A, the entire inner, plain-cloth
refill pillow insert 14 is placed into the outer, fancy-cloth pillow sachet cover 12 a, after being filled with scented matter. Thepillow insert 14 is inserted into thepillow sachet 12 a by opening there-closeable flap 16 in back section ofpillow sachet 12 b & 12 c(FIG. 1B), positioning thepillow insert 14 within the outer,pillow sachet flap 16 by usingpreferable closure methods 18 such as Velcro, buttons, zipper, snap, etc. on underside offlap 16 thereby permittingflap 16 to be opened, closed, reopened, and re-closed again and again without harming the cloth of the outer,pillow sachet pillow sachet flap 16, inserting scented matter, and then closingflap 16. - Operation-FIGS. 2A, 2B,2C, 2D
- The entire refillable inner, plain-cloth
refill pillow insert 14 has three sections which fit together as shown in FIG. 2B, consisting of afront portion 20, amiddle portion 24 having a rightside slot opening 28, and aback portion 22 having a leftside slot opening 26. - The desired fresh scented material, possibly loose potpourri, etc., could be placed into
pillow insert 14. This is done by pullingopen slot 26 ofback portion 22 and pullingopen slot 28 of middle portion 24 (FIG. 2D), inserting loose scented material, and then re-closingslot 26 by overlappingmiddle portion 24 andre-closing slot 28 by under-lappingback portion 22. - Inner, plain-cloth
refill pillow insert 14 may have a Velcro closing on the underside ofslot 26 attaching to top ofsection 24. - Conclusion, Ramifications, and Scope
- Accordingly, the reader will see that the refillable outer, fancy-cloth pillow sachet cover and re-closeable, inner, plain-cloth refill pillow insert of this invention can be used repeatedly, both easily and conveniently without damage to either pillow. In addition, when fragrance has faded from either inner or outer pillow, both may be refilled and reused making this invention both elegant as well as practical and economical. Furthermore, the refillable outer, fancy-cloth pillow sachet with re-closeable inner, plain-cloth refill pillow insert has the additional advantages in that
- both permit the consumer the freedom of any particular fragrance desired;
- both allow constant freshness;
- outer, fancy-cloth pillow sachet cover permits an elegant addition to any lingerie drawer and area that needs a fragrance;
- inner, plain-cloth refill pillow insert permits a neat and soil-free compartment where any fresh scent can be enclosed, before inserting into outer, fancy-cloth pillow sachet.
- Although the description above contains many specificities, these should not be construed as limiting the scope of the invention but as merely providing illustrations of some of the presently preferred embodiments of this invention. For example, both closure methods can be of Velcro, snap(s), button(s), zipper, etc.; the outer, fancy-cloth pillow sachet can be made of any number of fancy fabrics such as velvet, satin, moire, lace, etc.; and the outer sachet and inner insert can have other shapes, such as lozenge, circular, oval, triangular, square, etc.
- Thus the scope of the invention should be determined by the appended claims and their legal equivalents, rather than by the examples given.
