Abstract

A fence post damper 1 folds around the side of a wooden fence panel 4 and is secured through locating holes 3 by nails. It is pushed into the concrete fence post grooves 5 and the expansion fins 2 at the side of the main body create a secure fit.

Description

2352740 Fence Post Damver This invention relates to a concrete fence Post
Damper Concrete fence posts are used to support wooden panels. The posts allow the panels to slide into them by way of grooves.
Concrete Fence posts grooves provide a difference of fit with the width of the average fence panel, adding to this difference are seasonal weather conditions leading to contraction and expansion of the panels. This causes the fence to be buffeted by the wind, thus vibrates and hence shortens the life of the panel through damage.
According to the present invention there is provided a concrete fence post damper comprising a main body which folds around the fence panel and into the fence post groove, the main body allows for varying size of panel width and thus obtaining greater fit with the presence of expansion fins, the ability of the body to remain stable is provided by locating holes in all walls of the main body.
1 A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by the way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which 0 Figure I Illustrates the main body of the fence post damper Figure 2 Shows in perspective the main body folded and attached around the fence panel and separate from the fence post 0 Figure 3 Illustrates a fit between the damper, panel and post.
2- Referring to the drawing, the fence post damper comprises a main body 1, expansion fins 2 and locating holes 3.
In order for the damper to fit into the fence post 5 and contain the fence panel 4, the main body I as shown in figure I is folded around the fence panel and attached to the panel by way of nail through the locating holes 3, this can be seen in figure 2. The damper attached to the panel the slides into the fence post with the expansion fins 2 allowing for precise fit, which is illustrated in figure 3.

Claims (5)

  1. Claims
    I. A fence post damper comprising a main body that folds around a fence wooden panel, and is attached to the panel by a nail through the locating holes, the damper attached to the panel then slides into the fence post grooves with the expansion fins allowing for precise alignment with the fence post groove.
  2. 2. A fence post damper as claimed in 1, when fence panels and fence posts are unable to be separated but there is still a difference in fit present that leads to a vibration, then the damper shall be hammered home from the entrance of the groove at the top of the post and once in position fixed with a nail.
  3. 3. A fence post damper as claimed in I & 2, where expansion fins allow seasonal variations of thickness and lengths of the wooden panels from expansion and contractions to still be held firm within the fence post groove.
  4. 4. A fence post damper as claimed in 1,2, & 3, where the main body is able fold around 180 degrees of freedom.
  5. 5. A fence post damper substantially as described herein with reference to figures I 3 of the accompanying drawing.
