Abstract

A substantially rectangular element (1) forms an interior space in which the neck of the tie is positioned, giving shape to the knot (13). According to a first embodiment, said element (1) is bowed on one of the larger sides. According to a second embodiment, said element (1) includes two bodies (5, 6) articulated onto each other and provided with closing means (8, 9). It allows the knot of a tie to be made much more easily.

Description

2350051 SECURING DEVICE FOR NECKTIES This invention relates to a securing
device for neckties, being particularly designed for people who are not very skilled at making the knots in neckties.
Those who, for reasons of work or personal taste, are versed in making tie knots, whether they be English, American, Italian or others, have no problem at all in completing the task successfully and achieving tie knots that are certainly elegant.
It is nevertheless known that making a knot in a tie can prove to be a complicated task, especially for peop^e who do not normally wear this type of accessory.
There currently exist some types of ties which already have a made-up knot and are attached to the neck oL the wearer by means of a rear elastic string or the like.
is It has been found in practice that, mainly out of cons -idera-L-ions of quality and at the same time appearance,.nost individuals who have to wear a tie habitually or sporadically, are reluctant to use this type of garment since to a certain extent i-. detracts from its wearer by showing his lack of adeptness in knOt-LJ_nQ a tie.
The special features of the device of the invention, which will be described below, make it an original embodiment with countless advantages over the securing devices or means used to date to that end.
The invention set out below provides a device which is simple and cheap to make.
The securing device of the invention for ties is characterised in that it includes a substantially rectangular element, which forms an interior space in which the neck of the tie is positioned, giving shape to the knot.
2 Thanks to these features, the user of the device of the invention has only to place the tie around his neck, cross its ends over each other a couple of times so as to give volume to the zone of the knot and position the device in such a way that, by the pressure it exercises on the of the tie, a knot is formed.
According to a first embodiment of the invention, said substantially rectangular element has a widened zone on one of its larger sides.
According to a second embodiment of the invention, said substantially rectanguLar element -Includes, at least, -wo bodies articulated onto each or-her and provided with c"iosing means.
Preferably, one of the bodies that form the 15 substantially rectangular elemen-L has a small projecting stem, which is complementary to an orifice in another of the bodies which form the aforesaid substantially rectangular element.
Advantageously, the device of the invention has means for the attachment of an additional decorative element.
Thanks to -this feature, when the knot of the tie is done up following application of the clasp of the invention the user can adorn the knot of his tie still further by attaching with said clasp a coat-of-arms, emblem or the like.
Other features and advantages of the device of the invention will become clear from the description of a p-referred but non-exclusive embodiment, which is illustrated by way of non-restrictive example in the attached drawings, in which:
Figure 1 is a plan view of a first embodiment of the device of the invention; Figure 2 shows a perspective view of the first embodiment of the device of the invention; 3 Figure 3 is a plan view of a second embodiment of the device of the invention, showing in detail the means of attachment; Figure 4 is a perspective view showing a tie in 5 which a couple of folds have been made; and Fiaures 5 and 6 are, resQectively, a side view and a front view showing how a tie is left knotted when the device of the invention has been fitted to it.
According to a first embodiment shown in Figure 1, the device of the invention is made up of a subs tant rec n angular element, -iden---'f'.Led general bv means of reference number 1, which has a substantially concave widened zone 2, provided in order to facilitate the passing of both ends of a tie, therefore forming the knot of the tie.
Figure 2 shows how, in a oreferred embodiment, the subsEantially rectangular element 1 includes a frontal projection 3 by way of hook, to which can be attached an additional decorative element 4.
Figure 3 shows a second ernbodiment of the device of the invention, which includes a subs--a.n.Lially rect-angular element, marked in general with reflerence number 1, made up of a body 5 by way of frontal section and a body 6 by way of rear or closing section. These sections are articulated on to each other at point 7 by means of a conventional articulation.
In this figure, a detail has been enlarged to show how are the means. Said closing means are made up of a projection 8 which emerges from the frontal body 5 and is attached to the orifice 9 made in the closing body 6.
Figure 4 simply illustrates the pair of folds that have to made in the tie 10 that is being knotted, prior to application of the device.
In a way, making a tie knot 10 consists in passing the wider section of the tie over the narrower section. A 4 complete wind of the wider section ils then passed around the narrow section, and then finally, at the central zone of the neck of the tie 5, the wider section is inserted through the exterior frontal fold, thereby giving shape to 5 the knot.
The 1-nter-mediate fold does not in fact involve any complication. The problem arises when, at the end, the knot must be formed. A. triangular knot is a better form of presentation than a tubular knot, while at the same time the thickness of the zone where the knot is situated is also JLmportant. Given that the conclusion of making the knot of the tie 10 is what demonstrates ELIne skill of the user, With the devJIce of the invention a perfect knot can be achieved without any need to insert the wider section of the tie 10 through the aforementioned exterior frontal =old. Pigures 5 and 6 show a side view and another frontal view of a tie 10 knot-Led with the device of the invention. 20 From Figure 5 it can be appreciated how it is not necessary to pass section 11 through the interior of section 12, as would be done when making a conventional knot. Simply placing the device 1 in such a way that it secures section 11 of the tie 10 to the section 8 means that, on the one hand, a substantially triangular knot 13 (as shown in Figure 6) is achieved and, on the other, that said knot 13 is of suitable thickness.
