Abstract

A receptacle for containing an alcoholic beverage has a transparent base on which a design or message is applied by means of screen process printing.

Description

Improvements in advertising on receptacles The invention relates to the display of brand logos and messages by means of screen process printing (e. g. the silk screen printing process) on the base of a receptacle (e. g. a drinking glass) for the purposes of advertising.
Embodiments of the invention relate to glass drinking vessels and principally vessels intended for the purveyance of alcoholic beverages.
It is given that the sides and base of glass receptacles are transparent. It is upon the base of said receptacle that a design or message may be applied by the silk screen printing process so that the design or message may be viewed from the top of the glass.
The designs or messages will be as determined by national or international advertisers wishing to promote their goods and services through the medium to the consumer.
The message may include the"don't drink and drive"slogan.
In a preferred embodiment the principal glass type used will be beer or pint glasses although it may also be applied to any other sort of glasses.
The invention may also be applied to plastic or other non-glass receptacles.
The accompanying drawing illustrates an embodiment of the invention by way of example. This embodiment comprises a pint beer glass with an advertisement applied to the base.

Claims (6)

  1. CLAIMS 1. A receptacle (e. g. for containing an alcoholic beverage), said receptacle having a transparent base upon which a design or message is applied by means of screen process printing.
  2. 2. A receptacle according to claim 1 wherein the design or message is visible from the top of the receptacle.
  3. 3. A receptacle according to claim 1 or claim 2 wherein the receptacle is a drinking glass.
  4. 4. A receptacle according to claim 1 or claim 2 wherein the receptacle is a beer glass.
  5. 5. A receptacle according to any one of the preceding claims wherein the receptacle is a pint glass.
  6. 6. A receptacle substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to the accompanying drawing.
