234,339. Dessau, M. M. Sept. 10, 1924. Animals and figures ; floating toys; mechanical and like toys.-A rubber toy comprises two sheets of raw plantation rubber crepe or the like placed together with a strip of resilient material between them, one or both of the sheets being cut to represent an animal, a person, or other figure. The two pieces of rubber, cut to a suitable shape, are secured together at their edges by solution, a strip 14, Fig. 4, of whalebone or other springy material, encased in strips of crepe rubber, being secured between them. A strip of suitable material may be hinged to the back of the figure to serve as a strut for holding the figure in an upright position. The figure may be stood on a flat surface and bent with the finger, as shown in Fig. 3. On releasing the figure, the resilient strip will cause it to jump into the air. The toy may represent a fish and may be arranged to float on water. Suitable substances may be incorporated between the sheets to adjust the buoyancy of the toy. The figures may be stuffed with fibrous materials such as cotton or asbestos.
