Description

2342154 VntilatioA device The invention relates to a ventilation device
for a window or door frame assembly, comprising a housing having an upper mounting part which is to be mounted in a ftame portion, and a lower mounting pan which has a rebate for mounting a panel, such as a window pane, said housing defining a vent channel which is closable by means of a vent valve, said vent valve being rotatable between an open and a closed position, said vent channel extending between the longitudinal sides of the housing.
Such ventilation, device is known. The upper mounting part is usually mo'Unted to the upper window or door frame member. Underneath said upper mounting. part, the ventilation channel and also the lower mouziting part with rebate are situated.
As a consequence of this lay-out, the prior art ventilation device has a rather great height, which is a disadvantage. For instance, the device leads to a rather severe limitation of the ree- space in the frame. In the case of a window, this leads to a limited influx of light.
The object of the invention is to provide a ventilation device which has a more limited height, This object is achieved in that the upper mounting part of the housing comprises spaced, upwardly extending wa4 said walls being interconnected at a level essentially near or at their upper edges, said walls delimiting the ventilation channel.
According to the invention, the inner space of the upper mounting pat is usefully applied, in that it constitutes part of the ventilation channel. Thereby, the overall height of the device may be kept minhal, In particular, the spaced, upwardly extending wallsc can be parallel, their upper edges being interconnected by means of a transverse web. Furthermore, a screen or grille has been provided which crosses the ventilation channel so as to prevent the ingress of insects, dirt etcetera, According to a preferred embodiment, the housing comprises two interconnected profiles, one of said profiles comprising the upper mounting part, the other comprising the lower mounting part, said profiles being superposed, the lower profile comprising the lower mounting part and an upstanding web defining a screen 2 or grille, the upper edge of said web being connect ed to the transverse web of the upper profile.
The upper profile and the lower profile can comprise hook means for hooldng said profiles together in an end position with respect to each other, Said profiles may 5 be locked in said end position by means of a resilient locking member, The resilient locking means may comprise a first leg which bears under pretension against the other profile so as to urge said profiles together at the stop means.
In case the resilient locking means and the valve are connected to the lower profile, said resilient locking means may comprise a second leg which engages the valve by mapping said valve into the closed position.
The invention will be described further with reference to the embodiments shown in the figures.
Figure 1 shows a first embodiment of the ventilation device according to the invention.
Figure 2 shows a second embodiment.
Figure 3 and 4 show a third embodiment, The ventilation device shown in figme I comprises a housing 1, having an upper mounting part 2 and a lower mounting part 3. The upper mounting part 2 is to be connected to the upper &ame portion (not shown) of a window or a door fr=e. As shown in figure 1, the lower mounting part comprises a profile or rebate I I into which a double glazed window pane 25 has been accommodated in the usual way.
The upper mounting part 2 comprises a profile 10, having generally parallel and vertically upstanding walls 6, 7, which at their top edge are interconnected by the horizontal web 8.
The lower mounting part 3 is part of the lower profile 11, which also comprises a unitary screen or grill 9. Said screen or grill 9 has a number of consecutive openings 26 for preventing the ingress of dirt etcetera, Furthermore, a 0 mesh (not shown) may be provided covering said holes 26, for preventing the ingress 30 of fine particles, insects etcetera.
At the upper edge of said screen or grill 9, a transverse leg 13 has been provided, which is accommodated in an undercut groove 14 provided on the transverse web 8 of the outer profile 10. The transverse leg 13 and transverse web 18 3 with undercut gToove 14 constitute the connection between the upper and lower profiles 10, 11.
Onto the lower profile 11, a vent valve 5 has been Wilgedly connected by means of hinge 27 (known per se). The valve 5 has a soft closing member 28, which can rest at the valve seat 29 at the lower edge of wall 7.
As shown in figure 1, a ventilation channel is defined between the upper and lower profile 10, 11. Said ventilation channel 4 extends between the parallel walls 6, 7, through the screen or grill 9. As a result of the fact that the walls 6, 7 both serve as a mounting part for mounting the ventilation device in a window or door frame, and as a delimitation of the ventilation channel 4, the total height of said ventilation device may be kept minimal.
In the embodiment of figure 2, the upper profile 10 consists of an outer profile part 15 and an inner profile part 16 which are interwnnerted by means of a strip of insulating material 17. Said strip 17 comprises an undercut groove 14, accornmodating the transverse leg 13 of the grill or screen 9 of the lower profile 11.
By means of the strip 17, a heat insulating effect between the inside and outside of the profile parts 15, 16 is obtained.
The embodiment of figures 3 and 4 comprises an upper profile 10 provided with a hook-shaped protrusion 17, which engages a similar hook-shaped protrusion 18 at he upper edge 12 of the screen or grill 9.
Furthermore, the inside of wall 6 of the upper profile 10 is provided with a stop meaw 20, which is constantly urged against the screen or grill 9 under pretention of the resilient locking means 19. Said resilient locking means 19 engages the lower profile 11 by means of a protrusion 30, which hooks behind a hook 31 on said lower profile 11.
Moreover, the resilient locking means 19 has a face 32 resting apffist the screen or grill 9, Furthermore, the resilient locking ms 19 comprises a first leg 22, wl-dch resiliently engages the lower edge of the wall 7, for providing, the pretension between the stop means.20 of the upper profile 10 and the screen or grill 9, It is indicated that several of these resilient locking means 19 are available, spaced with respect to each other in the longitudinal of the ventilation device, 4 The resilient locking means 19 furthermore comprises a second leg 21, by means of which the vent valve 5 can be snapped into the closed position, as shown in fiPure -3).
Moreover, the resilient locking means comprises a tbird leg 23, which ensures that the rotational engagement between said vent valve 5 and the lower profile I I is maintained. Said third leg 23 frictionally engages the vent valve 5, in such a way that said valve 5 can be adjusted in any desired intermediate position.
