Abstract

Footballers shirts are designed to have inverted pleats (A) on the sides starting from under the sleeves. The inverted pleats will have a different colour underlay (C) to the shirt. The edges of the inverted pleats will be fastened by suitable fasteners (B). When the shirt is pulled with adequate force, the pleat will open to reveal the coloured underlay.

footballers shirts which are designed normally in the shape of a T- shirt. The football game or other known as soccer, in the recent years has improved technically a great deal and has been played at higher pace than it has ever been played at which made it very difficult for players and especially defenders to mark and tackle players and specially strikers. This has resulted in the problem of shirt pulling and tugging which was very evident as a phenomenon at the 1998 world cup.

Shirt pulling and tugging denies players and especially strikers opportunities, advantage and goal scoring chances by restricting their movement, slowing their running and imbalancing them and it mostly goes unnoticed by referees.

1 2 The ob ect of this invention is to provide the wearer of these j shirts of more flexibility and space when being pulled and tugged in a football game and more clarity of the shirt tugging offence when been committed.

According to this invention footballers shirts are designed with an inverted pleat with a separate coloured underlay on the sides of the shirt. The pleats start from under the sleeves. The sides of the pleat are fastened by suitable fasteners.

A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompaning drawings in which: Figure 1: A fastened inverted pleat with different coloured underlay.

The inverted pleat A has a different colour underlay C which is fastened by fasteners B. Figure 2 shows pleat A pulled apart showing the different colour underlay C clearly through the pleat and fasteners B undone. Figure 3 shows the position of pleat A under sleeve E on the side football shirt F. The football shirt F will have an inverted pleat A on each side with different colour underlay C fastened by fasteners B positioned under the sleeves E. The shirt pulling act will place pressure on fasteners B forcing them to be undone which will result inn spreading pleat A to its full width, giving the pulled player an extra yard or two of space which comes from the width of the pleat. It also results in showing the different colour underlay C which help to indicate and prove the occurrence of the shirt pulling offence.

   1 Footballers shirts are designed to have inverted pleat on the sides starting from under the sleeves. 2- As claimed in claim 1 the inverted pleats will have a different underlay to the shirt. 3- As claimed in claim 1 & 2 the edges of the inverted pleat will be fastened by suitable fasteners.
