Abstract
The lenses and frame of the spectacles (with or without the stems), are mounted beneath the brim or peak of a hat, in such a way as to relieve the wearer of weight or discomfort upon the nose or ears. The spectacles may fulfil one or more of the following functions - protective safety glasses, sun glasses, optically corrective glasses (to correct long or short sight). The hat or hat like brim, may be of any type or style that is capable of supporting the weight of the spectacles assembly, in the appropriate position.
Description
Page 1 SPECTACLES MOUNTED UNDER THE BRIM OF A HAT 2337443
FIELD This invention relates to the wearing of spectacles, without the discomfort of hooks behind the ears or weight upon the nose.
BACKGROUND The configuration of spectacles or glasses is well understood. The lenses are held together by the means of a simple fi=e. Some form of pad is fixed between the lenses, to reduce the discomfort created by the combined weight of the lenses and frame upon the, upper parts of the nose. To each outside edge of the lenses (or fi-ame), is fixed a stem with ends that are shapedL so that they can hook behind the wearers ear. The stem is usually fitted in such a way as to enable the complete assembly to be folded parallel to the lenses.
Although such spectacles are widely accepted, they are often uncomfortable and inconvenient to wear. This invention will reduce the discomfort and inconvenience of wearing spectacles, in some circumstances.
MAIN TECEMCAL FEATURES OF THE fiJON. According to the submitted invention. The lenses and fl-ame of the spectacles (with or without the stems), are mounted beneath the brim or peak of a hat, in such a way as to relieve the wearer of weight or discomfort upon the nose or ears. The spectacles may fulfil one or more of the following functions - protective safety glasses, sun glasses, optically corrective glasses (to correct long or short sight). The hat or hat like brim, may be of any type or style that is capable of supporting the weight of the spectacles assembly, in the appropriate position. The means of fitting the spectacles assembly to the hat is tried and tested but not shown in this specification, in order to preserve 'depth' of the central inventive idea.
Page 2 CS 1 A spectacles assembly is securely fitted beneath the brim/ peak of a hat, in such a way that the lenses are supported in front of the wearers eyes, beneath the brim/ peak [FIG 11 2 The hat used can be of any type or style that is capable of supporting the assembly, as claimed in claim 1. Examples of these may be baseball cap, sun hat, gentles cap, bush hat, hard hat or helmet. [FIG 21 3 The brim as claimed in claim 1, may exist in some other form than a brim of a hat Examples may include a brim supported above the eyes by a strap or spring supported head band. [FIG 31 4 The brim as claimed in claim 1 need not protrude any further in front of the eyes, as is necessary to support the spectacles assembly. [FIG 4] The spectacles assembly as claimed in claim 1, may fififil one or more of the following functions - protective safety glasses, sun glasses, optically corrective glasses (to correct long or short sight).
6 The spectacles assembly as claimed in claim 1 may consist of a single item, such as a single sheet of tinted or protective parent material. [FIG 51 7 Ile said spectacles assembly as claimed in claim 1, may be permanently fixed or able to flip up into a position parallel to the brim of the hat into an lout of use position'. The fixing mechanism can be adjustable. [FIG 61 8 Where the spectacles assembly is able to flip up as claimed in claim 7, the assembly may be held in position by frictional means, magnet or clip etc.
9 The hat as claimed in claim 2 may have a curved brim/ pe4 so that the spectacles assembly can be curved to fit the contours of the face and still fit neatly under the brim. [FIG 71 Page 3
Claims (1)
- CLAIMS (2nd page)The hat alone as claimed 'm claim 2 may be modified, so that a normal spectacles frame can be fitted, or removed from the hat to be used as conventional spectacles. Tifis may involve the use of simple tabs or some more complex means of fixing.
