Abstract

A reusable coffin A has a hinged side/end panel B and internal rollers C that allow an insert E, containing the body, to be easily removed. The hinged panel is preferably held closed by the use of screws D. The reusable coffin may be made of wood, plastic, metal or fibreglass. The insert, which may be made of cardboard, has a lid and may be lined with silks.

Description

REUSABLE COFFIN This invention relates to a coffin which can be reused, due to one or more panels of the coffin being hinged.

Coffins come in various sizes and makes and cost a large amount of money, at present they either get burnt or buried along with the deceased.

The object of the invention is to provide the same high standard of coffins to the general public but at the same time reducing the costs and being user friendly by reusing them.

The invention provides a rectangular coffin which preferably is made of wood but can be made of plastic, metal or fiberglass products. One or more panels of the coffin are hinged to allow the cardboard insert to be removed with the minimum of fuss. The extraction of the insert is made easier by the strategically placed rollers on the bottom of the coffin again made from one of the above products.

A specific embodiment of the invention will now be discribed by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which FIGURE 1 Shows a three dimensional view of the coffin with the coffin end that is hinged fully open. It also shows the cardboard insert and both lids.

FIGURE 2 Shows a three dimensional view of the coffin with the end that is hinged partly open and an x-ray vision of the rollers which assist the cardboard being extracted out of the reusable coffin.

As shown in figure 1. the coffin "A" has a drop down panel "B" at either the top or bottom end of the coffin .This panel can be opened and closed by the removal of two retaining screws from the retaining holes "D"The design of the drop down panel which has two hinges "F" along with the statigicley placed rollers "C" allow you to extract the cardboard insert "E" which contains the deceased with the minimum of effort.

Once the cardboard insert has been removed the coffin can be reused over and over again.

Figure 2. shows a three dimensional and x-ray picture of the invention. Item "E" being the cardboard insert and item "G" being the lid for the cardboard insert. These items will contain the silks that would normally be found in a conventional coffin.

Claims

CLAIMS 1. A reusable coffin comprising of a hinged panel on at least one side of the coffin together with rollers on the inside bottom of the coffin, means of easy removal of insert.
2. A reusable coffin as claimed in Claim 1 wherein guide means are provided in the coffin co-operable with the insert to control the sliding movement, in and out, from the coffin.
3. A reusable coffin as claimed in Claim 1 or Claim 2 wherein the guide rollers are situated along the inside bottom of the coffin.
4. A reusable coffin as claimed in Claim 3 wherein the coffin is provided with at least one hinged panel.
5. A reusable coffin as claimed in Claim 4, wherein the or each hinged panel is opened or closed by the use of two or more screws.
6. A reusable coffin substantially as described herein with reference to Figures 1-2 of the accompanying drawing.
