Abstract

Metalliferous waste in the form of dust, sand, or sludge, for example brass ashes or slags, is leached with an agent, such as ammonia, which will free it from oxide, and the residue is then subjected to wet mechanical dressing for the recovery of the particles of free metal. The solution obtained by the leaching may be treated for the recovery of the metal contents, and ammonia may be recovered by distillation. Specification 5390/82 is referred to.ALSO:Metalliferous waste in the form of dust, sand, or sludge, for example brass ashes or slags, is leached with an agent, such as dilute hydrochloric acid, which will free it from oxide. The solution obtained by the leaching may be treated for the recovery of the metal contents. Specification 5390/82 is referred to.
