Abstract

Heat-resistant glass panels (11-15) and a door panel (16) are demountedly connected together to form a removable inner carcase for a cooking oven. The panels (11,12,13) include vent slots (21). The panels (12,13) include shelf bearers (23). The front edge of side panel (13) carries a magnetic strip (28) which engages the strip (29) carried by the door panel (16). The carcase can be removed from the oven for cleaning purposes.

Description

2331357 1 OVEN LINERS This invention relates to liners for cooking ovens
and has as its object the provision of liners which are easily removable for cleaning purposes.
According to one aspect of the invention, there is provided an assembly of heat-resistant glass panels with means demountably to connect them together to form a removable inner carcase for a cooking oven.
The carcase is preferably complete in the sense that it includes side and back panels, roof and base panels and a hingeable door panel. At least a first of the vertical panels may be formed with an edge flange including means for engagement with the edge region of a second vertical panel against which, in use, the first panel is intended to be placed with the edges juxtaposed to form a corner of the carcase. At least one of the horizontal panels may be formed with an edge flange with corresponding internal projections or other raised formations to define grooves to receive the edges of the vertical panels. At least the side vertical panels may include shelf bearers and, especially where the oven contains electrically-energised heating elements, vent apertures which preferably include guard means to prevent direct access to the heating elements. Apertures may also be suitably provided to 2 correspond with fans and the like.
The door panel preferably includes means to effect closure against the appropriate side or roof panel; such means may comprise a magnetic element which engages in the closed position with a corresponding element carried by the side or roof panel The door panel preferably also includes handle means, desirably formed from a heatresistive material.
The heat-resistant glass renders the panels readily cleanable, optionally in a dishwasher, and may enhance the visual effect when in place in the oven in that the glowing heating elements would be visible.
Embodiments of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings, of which:- Figure 1 shows an assembled oven carcase; Figure 2 shows an exploded view of the rear and side panels; Figure 3 shows a front elevation of the door; and Figure 4 shows a plan view of the bottom panel, to 3 which the roof panel corresponds.
As shown in Figure 1, the carcase consists of rear panel 11, side panels 12, 13, roof panel 14, floor panel 15 and door panel 16 hinged to side panel 12.
As shown in Figure 2, each side panel 12, 13 has an inturned flange 17, 18 at its rear vertical edge, the flanges carrying hooks 19 which engage in apertures 20 formed in the side edge regions of rear panel 11. The rear panel 11 is also formed with vent slots 21 with guard strips behind and spaced from the rear surface of the panel, not visible in the drawing.
The side panels are also formed with vent slots 22, similarly protected by guard strips, and include alternating shelf bearers 23. The front edge of side panel 12 is formed as a small inturned flange 24 carrying housings 25 for hinge pins 26 carried in one side edge of the door 16, as shown in Figure 3.
The other side panel 13 has a corresponding front edge flange 27 carrying a magnetic strip 28 which engages with a corresponding strip 29 carried by the door, which also includes a handle 30.
With reference to Figure 4, the floor panel 15 has an 4 upturned edge flange 31 to contain spillages and upstanding longitudinal ridges 32 spaced inwardly from edge flange to define channels 33 which serve to locate the lower edges of the side panels. The roof panel is similarly formed, to enable it to be carried on the side and rear panels and to support the side panels laterally at their upper edges.
The carcase can be assembled outside the oven and slid into place with the external door open; removal may also take place with the carcase assembled, followed by disassembly for cleaning purposes.
