Abstract

A ladder-scaffold support comprises a double bracket attachable to a ladder. A first double bracket is attached to the rungs of a first ladder and a second double bracket attached to the rungs of a second ladder. Scaffolding boards may be laid on the upper and/or lower horizontal struts (A, B figure 4) which form part of each bracket. The double brackets are provided with u-shaped recesses which fit over the rungs of a ladder and they can be secured in position by support bolts. A further embodiment of this invention takes the form of a double bracket attachable to a single ladder with a work platform fixed to the upper strut of the bracket.

Description

THE DESCRIPTION
A STAGING APPARATUS FOR WORKING ON VERTICAL SURFACES 2331321 OF BUILDINGS ETC THIS INVENTION RELATES TO A MEANS OF WORKING ON THE OUTSIDEIOR INSIDE OF BUILDINGS AT ANY HEIGHT WITHIN THE NORMAL RANGE OF LADDERS.
The methods in use at present are either a single ladder or. an erected scaffold. This invention uses a pair of brackets of either timber, steel or alloy fabrication.plus two ladders. It obviates the use, in the majority of cases of either a single ladder, tower type scaffold,or conventional scaffold.
madein'this-case of 7.5x5Ct timber. Drawing number The brackets, each one attached to a ladder section, support scaffold boards or similar staging stretched between the two ladders, as shown in drawing number The elevation number 1 shows the dimensions, the ladder is shown in a vertical position for the sake of simplicity but the normal working angle- of the ladder would be approximately 300 The lower end of support C, Where.it grips the ladder rung is drilled in 3 places to take the support bolt which can be moved from one to the other to obtain the horizontal position for supports A and B. The horizontal support A supports staging for working on vertical surfaces at medium and above heights. Support B is for working at lower levels between the ladder and the wall where the staging on support A would be too far away from the work.
The brackets can be used with from 1 to 4 scaffold boards. If both supports are staged this provides a twin surface. giving space to place various items of equipment out of the way of the actual working area.
The lower support B is supported at the outer. end on. C and at the inner end on the laRder rung. Strut B is adjustable by changing the bolt from one..gole to another or can be removed completely if not in use.
The apparatus can also be used with a single ladder and one double bracket staged with a small platform of 45x45cm approx, as being more comfortable than standing on the single rung of a ladder as shown in drawing i -I_

Claims (1)

  1. THE CLAIM
In addition to paragraph 1 of the description this invention has the advantage over a single ladder of providing a comfortable-stable and spacious working area. The brackets are relatively light and can be carried in a small vehicle. It is a fraction of the cost of either a tower or conventional scaffold and cuts out the time both the transport and erection of same.
