Abstract

A retractable horizontal weight support, eg. an adjustable retractable scaffold board 10. Allowing access to ceilings and walls in rooms and around stairs wells etc.. One end is releasable secured to a separate structure (ladder, step ladder etc.) by means partly shown. The other end takes the form of a ladder the base supports of which are flared 12. This acts principally as an adjustable support to the main feature 10. Lastly there is provided releasably secured means for allowing this device to be collapsed for storage. <IMAGE>

Description

RETRACTABLE HORIZOWTAL YEEIG:iT SJPPORT This invention relates to a retractable horizontal support.

Scaffolds boards used between step-ladders allowing access to ceilings. This is common place. Mounted on various steps of the ladder allows height adjustment with the length of the board dictating the ease of mobility. The board is normally a seperate part of the complete apparatus (not normally secured). This apparatus does not, however, extend itself to walls and ceilings adjacent to stair cases. Normally the most difficult areas to reach.

According to the present invention there is provided a retractable horizontally, extending support. Hinged to flared, vertical, stepped supports also adjustable.

A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure I shows in perspective, the erected horizontal support, as it would normally be found in various situations, the top of a landing, secured to the hand rail, or a rung of a ladder stepped vertically in a stairwell or the step of a step-ladder Figures 2 & 3 illustrates the extending and retracting of both the load bearing horizontal section and its vertical support.

Figure 4 & 5 shows the collapsed device. Siae and front elevations.

Referring to the drawings the retractable horizontal weight support comprises a extendable horizontal support IO and a vertical stepped support I2 adjustably secured by for example a hinge, or similar means (not shown).

Adjustable means are provided at the extreme end of the horizontal extension for the securing to an independent fixture (as stated in the written figure I)I4.

Stepped legs are provided which can be adjusted and secured by means of catch and recess or similar means 15.

A retractable horizontal weight support has a horizontal section IO which is adjustable 13 and has vertical section I2. The two sections are both extendable and retractable. Both sections are hinged together. At the extreme end of the horizontal extension is a meansfor securing it to an independent apparatus. So forming a complete load bearing support.

I A horisontal weight support taking the for. of a scattolt board means provided for releasably adjusting the length; at adjacent ends thereof are firstly a vertical support faking the for. of a ladder included are means for adjusting the height thereof so as to ILintain a horisontal attitude for the apparatus in differing situations,while at the opposite end are provided means for securing the apparatus to step or rung of a Ladder, or step ladder etc., so completing the struoturs, The main feature is the scaffold board type horizontal support and secondary is the vertically supporting stepped feature. These fold together ( for storage ) via means provided.
