Abstract

A portable scaffold system is made up of four or more frames which when assembled can be safely used on roofs around chimneys in conjunction with standard tubes and fittings with adjustable inserts in horizontal 10 to encompass different chimneys and telescopic legs 22 to lower or raise to accommodate steep roofs and tilting feet 24 to lay flat on roofs of varying pitches, with open top of vertical 12 to take guard rail post and spiggot. A tube (28) can be welded on end to take guard rail post for cantilever around gable end chimneys (Fig. 6). <IMAGE>

Description

SCAFFOLDING 'A' FRAMES This invention relates to a portable scaffolding system. Scaffolding is usually of pipes and fittings that are assembled on site to suit the particular job.
This present invention is made up and welded of light aluminium or light steel tube or the like with telescopic members for adjustment on site, it is made of standard materials so that it can be incorporated with other scaffolds in use today.
Fig.l shows frame assembled with section of insert in horizontal with spring clip for fixing and leg and spring clips for fixing.
Fig. 2 shows horizontal insert with drilled holes.
Fig. 3 shows foot on end of telescopic leg with tilting movement allowed by hinge.
Fig. 4 shows slides for fixing cornerways across scaffold boards adjacent to stanchions.
Fig. 5 shows corner slides in position.
Fig. 6 shows frame with tube welded on end to accomodate guard rail post for gable end chimneys with insert at 10 and leg at 12.
Referring to the drawing the frame(s) can be made of aluminium or light steel tube and comprises of a horizontal 10 joined to a vertical 1 braced with a diagonal 14 strengthened with a strut 16. The horizontal 10 has holes drilled to accomdate spring clip 18 to secure insert 26, which has holes at set distances for fixing, the insert 26 inserted in two frames Fig.1 at 10. form a bridge which by use of holes and clips can be adjusted to suit job, the inserts 26 can be of varying lengths.
Two of these bridges astride a roof can then be connected with scaffold poles and couplers either fixed or sliding to make platform.
The leg 22 with foot 24 can be used in horizontal 10 and insert 26 can be used in vertical 12, multiples of frames Fig.1. can be used to cantilever around chimneys.
The top of vertical 12 is left open to accomodate a guard rail post and spiggot wherebye guard rails with loose or fixed couplers can be affixed.
The slide Fig.4 fixing the butted up toe boards Fig. 5 allow different size boards to be used.
Fig. 6 shows frames with tube welded vertical to take guard rail post for cantilever around chimney with insert at opposite end to Fig.1.
Welded tube for guard rail spiggot Fig.6. 28.

Claims (7)

1. Two frames that joined together by telescopic inserts can form an expanding bridge of which two bridges joined together by means of transomes of standard scaffold tubes form a portable platform which can be lengthened or shortened by means of telescopic inserts,Raised or lowered by means of telescopic legs, can accomodate four stanchions with spiggots and guard rails to make safe adjustable working platform for working on roofs etc., the whole is made of light metal, aluminium etc., with corner slides to enable any length of boards to be used.
2. A portable platform with telescopic legs for raising and lowering structure as claimed in claim 1.
3. A portable platform that can be expanded by use of telescopic inserts in horiontal members as claimed in claim 1.
4. A portable platform that can be raised or lowered as claimed in claim 1 and 2 expanded or contracted as in claim 1 and 3.
5. A portable platform that can be raised or lowered as in claim 1 and 2 can be expanded or contracted as in claim 1 and 3 can have guard rails and posts with spiggots for easy erection.
6. With corner slides for scaffold boards for quick fastening using any length of boards as claimed in claim 1.
7. With frame and welded tube fig. 6 to accomdate guard rail post for gable end chimneys.
