Valve gear.-Exhaust valves c, c<1> and a corresponding pair of inlet valves (not shown) are actuated by face-cam projections d<4>, d<6> formed on a gear wheel d<1> driven by a pinion d<2> on a vertical shaft d<3>. The inlet valves may be arranged at a different radial distance from that of the exhaust valves, in which case the valves are actuated through tappets g, g<1> as shown; or all the valves may be on the same circle and be actuated through rockers. Regulating. - According to the Provisional Specification, when rockers are used, they may be mounted on adjustable pivots, so that the inclination of the rocker, or a wedge-shaped portion thereon, is varied as the pivot is moved.
