The invention is intended to be used in all forms of transportation and travel generally.

Description

MAP AND ROUTE FINDING ACCESSORY DESCRIPTION The invention consists of a magnetized disc of variable diameter and thickness, which is fully or partially enclosed in a case, allowing it to rotate freely in a horizontal, vertical or any other plane, necessary for it to function as a compass. The surface would have a map, in scale or otherwise, of whatever area of the globe is needed, in standard national, or international form, or any other form and also 3 dimensional with varying scales for height and distance.
The disc may also not have a mapped surface, but support individual and various maps for attachment when required.

Claims (2)

1. By combining the map and compass, the map will always face the right direction, thus reducing the problem of disorientation. The 3 dimensional version would also eliminate, for most laymen, the problem of translating the information contained in most Ordnance Survey maps.
2. By using the invention one is observing a miniature version of the surrounding area. What you see on the invention, is what is there, whether you can see it or not. Whilst rambling, regularly updating your position in relation to the invention, would make it easy to "find the way home", even if visibility was dramatically reduced due, for example, to a sudden fog.
