Abstract
232,935. Dubois, C. April 26, 1924, [Convention date]. Retting. - In obtaining supple silky fibres from flax and hemp, the materials, freed from shives by retting and scutching are treated with hot alkaline lyes to remove gummy resinous substances, and after washings and rinsings the fibres are passed through cotton opening and carding machines. The fibre.-, sc: obtained. although silky, may be improved by treatment with a suitable oil or varnish, and passing through pressing and smoothing rolls in known manner, or the threads obtained from the fibres may be impregnated.

Process for treating bark yarns, such as hemp, flax, jute, manila and other filaments, as well as leaf fibers, such as raffia, cassava and other filaments, to obtain silk, cotton and other fibers. similar textile fibers
Process for obtaining high value cellulose from soiled, already defibrated plant fibers, and more particularly from cotton waste, such as linters, hull-fiber and spinning waste
