Abstract
A tip (1) for a ploughshare, wherein the tip is coated with carbides on the underside of the tip at the front end of the tip. Moreover, the tip is made of a thicker material than hitherto-known and is streamlined to secure optimal soll-flow. The new type of tip can be mounted on conventional ploughshares, where conventional, reversible tips can also be mounted. The tip can remain mounted on the ploughshare for the whole lifetime of both tip and ploughshare. The distribution of the carbide particles in the carbide layer matrix prevents the abrasive components the earth from gaining direct access and hereby wear away the matrix and the carbide layer.

1 2328852 TIP FOR PLOUGHSHARE TIP FOR PLOUGHSHARE The invention's areas of
application The invention concerns a tip or point for a cutting blade, a so-called ploughshare on a plough.
The purpose of the tip is to break the earth at the most wear-intensive area on a plough, 1:rand:.. which is consequently configured so that it can be replaced relatively quickly. - The known technique is For many years it has been general practice to use replaceable tips for ploughshares. A few years ago, it was customary to weld the tip on the ploughshare, which made the changing of the tip very time-consuming, in that it was first necessary to grind away the old welding seam, clean the area to which the new tip was to be welded, and thereafter weld on the new tip.
It was possible to do this providing that most ploughs were equipped with a single or two blades. At the same time that it has become more and more norTnal to use ploughs-with 4-7 blades and turning ploughs with 2 x 4-7 blades, i.e. up to 14 blades in all, it has become very important to be able to change the tip of a ploughshare- much more quickly.
Thishas boon done by securing the tip to the ploughshare by means of bolts. At the same time, the tips have been made reversible, so that double the lifetime is achievedpd with tips which cannot be reversed. The normal lifetime of a 1 2 ploughshare corresponds to the lifetime of up to 3 reversible tips, which means that the tips must be changed up to 6 times for each ploughshare.
The technical problem which needs to be solved Since it is still desirable to be able to reduce the time needed to change the tips on ploughshares, this can be accomplished by configuring a ploughshare tip which is so resistant to wear that the lifetime of the tip corresponds to that of the ploughshare. Moreover, the tip must be configured in such a manner that it does not minimize the tilling effect of the plough during the whole lifetime of the tip. The shape of the tip must give rise to a soil-flow which does not result in the stopping of the plough in soft soil, or -result in unnecessary wear at other places on the plough. Moreover, the configuration of the tip must not give rise to any noteworthy increase in the consumption of fuel.
The new technique The novelty aspect of the invention is that the tip is made of a thicker material than hitherto-known, while the underside of the tip at the front end of the tip is coated with carbides.
The technical effect The combination of steel quality and the configuration of the tip, which on the back is coated with a layer of carbides, results in the lifetime of the tip corresponding to the lifetime of the ploughshare. The positioning and the shape of the ploughshare tip enables a self- sharpening effect on the tip to be achieved, which contributes towards ensuring that the working of the soil by the plough is optimal during the whole lifetime of the tip. Moreover, the positioning and shape of the tip in relation to the remaining parts of the plough contribute towards 1 3 avoiding a stoppage of the plough when ploughing in soft soil. Furthermore, there is no increase in the wear on the remaining parts of the plough, nor is there any:rrthy increase in the consumption of fuel by the tractor which pulk the plough.
The new tip can be mounted on conventional ploughshares, where conventional, reversible: tips can also be mounted. Since the invention makes R possible to achieve-s greatly-increased lifetime of the tip, this can remain mounted on the ploughshare W the whole lifetime of both tip and ploughshare. The distribution of various sizes of carbide particles in the matrix prevents the abrasive components of the earth from gaining direct access and hereby wear awayttve matrix and-the carbide layer.

4 Example embodiments In the figures 1 -5 are shown the configuration of the invention and an example on a ploughshare 2 on which a tip 1 according to the invention can be mounted by means of bolts 3 in a commonly-known manner.
As will be seen in fig. 1 a, a carbide layer 4 is provided on the underside of the tip 1. The tip is provided with preferably conical holes 6 to accommodate a corresponding head on a screw in a bolt connection 3. In order to achieve a better soil-flow, the top of the tip 2 is made streamlined with bevelled or chamfered portions 5 at each end of the tip 1.
The ploughshare 2 is provided with holes 7 for the fastening of the tip on the ploughshare, and holes 8 for the mounting of the ploughshare on other parts of the plough (not shown). The ploughshare can also be provided with a sole 9 for the reinforcement/stabilizing of this outside the mounting position of the tip 1.
The positioning and the number of holes 7,8 for the mounting of the various plough parts will depend on the type and model of the plough.

Claims (4)
1. A tip for mounting on a cutting plate, a so-called ploughshare, characterized in that the underside of the tip at the front end of the tip is coated with carbides.
2. Tip according to claim 1, characterized in that the carbide layer contains particles of different sizes.
3. Tip according to claims 1-2, characterized in that at least the one end of the tip is bevelled and/or chamfered.
4. Tip substantially as described herein with reference to and as illustrated in the accompanying drawings.

6 Amendments to the Claims have been filed as follows 1 - A tip for mounting on a cutting plate, a so-called ploughshare with a local carbide coating, characterized in that the underside of the tip at the font end of the tip is coated with carbides.
2. Tip according to claim 1, characterized in that the carbide layer contains particles of different sizes.
3. Tip according to claims 1-2, characterized in that at least the one end of the tip is bevelled and/or chamfered.
