Abstract

A sling for suspending a grow bag has suspension strings/cords/wires E which can be used for supporting plants growing in the grow bag. The web A of the sling may be plastics, hessian or nylon. The sling can be hung from fences, walls or overhead beams. The suspension strings, cords or wires may be varied in length. The sling allows plants such as climbing plants to be grown in areas of limited space.

Description

GROWING BAG SLING INCORPORTING PLNT SUPPORT The invention relates to a growing bag sling incorporating a plant support system.
In this instance a growing bag is defined as a bag usually made of flexible plastic containing a plant growing medium. Growing bags are extensively used by gardeners for the cultivation of tomatoes, beans and many other plants. One method of use would be to place the growing bag directly onto the ground when the growing plants would be supported by means of canes or sticks pushed into the ground. Alternatively, the growing bags may be placed on patios or paved areas. In this instance it is more difficult to provide adequate fixing for the plant supports, particularly tall, heavy cropping plants such as beans and peas.
Both these methods do require a reasonable amount of ground space.
The object of the invention is to enable the growing bag to be used where ground space is unavailable or limited and where suspension of the growing bag against a supporting wall, fence or other structure, or from an overhead beam is possible. The strings or cords used to suspend the sling become the support system for the growing plants which could be beans, peas, tomatoes or other suitable crop.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which Figure 1 shows in perspective the growing bag sling with the plant support strings in position.
Figure 2 shows a front or back elevation.
Figure 3 shows a side elevation.
A sling (A) formed in any suitable flexible material such as plastic, hessian or nylon, in which a growing bag can be suspended. Cords, strings or wires (E) are attached to the top edges (B) of the sling (A) by some suitable method, and are used to suspend the sling (A) from a suspension bar (C) made of wood, metal, plastic, or some other suitable material. The suspension bar (C) can be attached to any rigid structure such as a fence, wall or overhead beam. The suspension strings (E) form the support system for the growing plants without the necessity for additional methods of plant support. This invention enables climbing plants to be grown in locations where ground space is either unavailable or is limited.

Claims (1)

  1. CLAIM 1 A sling suspended by strings, cords or other suitable material for the purpose of holding a growing bag whereby the suspension strings or cords form a plant support system.
CLAIM 2 As in CLAIM 1 wherein the suspension strings, cords or wires can be varied in length to suit a particular application.
