Abstract

The axial lines L1 of a die cylinder 20 and anvil cylinder 24 disposed between a pair of frames 50, 50 spaced from each other in the direction crossing the sheet feeding direction P are set to be parallel to the reference line L2 orthogonal to the sheet feeding direction R The die 52 is attached to the die cylinder 20 so that the lateral die cutting blade 54b forming a lateral die cutting line 26 on the sheet material 12 is inclined an appointed degree of angle (#1) with respect to the reference line L2. The lateral die cutting blade 54a is gradually brought into contact with the sheet material 12 from one end side to the other end side in the lengthwise direction, thereby causing the sheet material 12 to be die cut, and preventing a large die cutting force being applied to both the cylinders 20, 24.

Description

1 DIE AND ROTARY DIE CU= USING THE SAME
BACKGROUND OF THE INVEISMON
Field of the Invention
2328172 The present invention relates to a die in which a die cutting blade is planted in a curved board and a rotary die cutter which die-cuts a sheet material to an appointed shape by the abovementioned die cutting blade by causing said sheet material to pass between a die cylinder to which said die is attached, and an anvil cylinder.
Description of the Related Art
A rotary die cutter has been prefbrably used as a means for forming blanks, etc. which will be a base material of carton boxes which can be assembled and disassembled, by die-cutting a sheet material such as sheetlike corrugated cardboard to an appointed shape. The rotary die cuttex is provided with a a die der to which a die having a die cutting blade of an appointed shape planted in a board of curved shape is detachably attached, and an anvil der havmg its axial line disposed m parallel to the die cylinder, to which an anvil made of urethane material is attached, wherein the anvil is able to receive the blade tip of the abovementioned die cutting blade m a contacted state. Both cylinders are mutually driven m an opposite direction by an outside drive source to which the cylinders are commonly connected via a gear train. Therefore, a sheet material, which is represented by a corrugated cardboard, horizontally fed between both the ders, is put between the abovementioned die cutting blade and the anvil cylinder and fed forward, and m this process the corresponding sheet material is die cutting (so-called soft-cut) to an appointed shape.
Furthermore, in the abovementioned rotary die cutter, in addition to a "soft cuf'type m which an anvil made of urethane material is attached to the anvil cylinder, a ed "senii-hard cuCtype in which a metallic plate made of material such as stainless steel, aluminium or copper, etc. is attached to the outer circumference of a cylinder constructed of an ironofiented hard material,:whdmn;-,,,, sheet material is die cutting by causing a die cutting blade to be brouht into contict 1 1 1.1 0 ---0 z 7.. - 2 with the outer circumference of the metallic plate, and a so-called "hard- cuf' type m which a sheet material is die cutting by causing a die cutting to be directly brought into contact with the outer circumferential. surface of a cyhnder without applymg a metallic plate are available.
In the abovementioned rotary die cuttex, the die cylinder is disposed so that its axial line is made parallel to the reference line orthogonal to the sheet feeding direction. Therefore, a lateral die cutting blade which is disposed at the abovementioned die and laterally creases a sheet material in parallel to the reference line is set so as to become parallel to the corresponding reference Ene. When die cutting the sheet material by using the lateral die cutting blade set as described above, since the corresponding blade is brought into contact with the sheet material at the entim length thereof, a great stress is instantly applied to the die cylinder and the anvil der.
Since such impact load is repeatedty given to both the cylinders, there is a problem by which the service life of bearing portions, etc. of the cylinders is shortenedTherefore, although a countermeasure is taken to increase the mechanical strength of the bearings, etc., such a shortcoming arises, where the system is made large- resulting in an increase of the production cost. Furthermore, in a case of the abovementioned "senn-hard cut typ6' or "hard-cut typJ, since the lateral die-cuttmg blade of the the is directly brought mto contact with the outer circumferential surface of the cyhnder, there arises another problem by which vibrations occur or the blade may be damaged, etc.
Furthermore, in the rotary die cutter, in order to score a sheet material for folding to make carton boxes, etc., there is a case where a die having a scoring blade for scoring planted in the abovementioned curved board is used. At this time, impact load is given to the scoring blade for scoring in parallel to the reference hne as in the abovementioned lateral die-cutting blade, and a problem is pointed out, where a scoring line is strongly given to cause breakage to occur due to the scoring. That is, in the rotary die cutter, since the die cutting of sheet materials is enabled by causing the tip end of a die cutting blade protruding from the curved board to be engaged in the anvil, the surface of the corresponding anvil is obliged to be damaged due to engagement of the abovementioned blade if the die cutting work is continued f(or.,-a long time. The part where the tip end of the blade is engaged in is unavoidably W'OM 3 due to the damage at the anvil. Accordingly, in this case, the axial distance between the die cylinder and the anvil cylinder is shortened m order to securely carry out the die cutting and the engagement quantity of the die-cutting blade is secured with respect to the anvil cylinder. However, the interval between the scoring blade and the anvil cylinder is also shortened to cause the sheet material to be unnecessarily strongly scored, resulting m a damage due to the scoring. Furthermore, even m a case of the "semi-hard typer or "hard typer, since the tip end of the die cutting blade is caused to become dull as time elapses, good die cutting will not be earned out. Therefore, at this time, the axial distance between the the cylinder and the anvil cylinder is alw shortened, still another problem arisies, by which such a scoring damage as mentioned above will occur.
As a result of wearing at only the part where the tip end of the die cutting blade is engaged in at the anvil, the surface of the anvil is made uneven (concave and convex), still another problem arises, by which the scoring performed by the abovementioned scoring blade can not be carried out smoothly. In this respect, although the part m which the tip end of the die cutting blade is engaged with respect to the anvil cylinder is changed by shifting the die cylinder in its axial direction, no good result could be expected because of the lateral die-cutting blade being parallel to the axial line of the corresponding cylinder.
SLIAY OF THE PATIMON The invention was proposed in order to favorably solve the problems internally existing in the abovementioned prior arts, and it is therefore an object of the invention to provide a die which ensures a longer period of service life of diecutting blade, scoring blade, and die cylinder, etc. and a rotary die cutter in which they are used.

DETAILED DESCRIMON OF THE PREFERRED EMBODBAENTS 12 Next, a description is given of some preferred embodiments of a die according to the present invention and a rotary die cutter using the same, with reference to the accompanying drawings.
preferred embodiment) FIG. 1 and FIG.2 briefly show the construction of a rotary die cutter according to the first preferred embodiment. The corresponding rotary die cutter is provided with a die cylinder 20 (See FIG.3) and an anvil cylinder 24, which are rotatably disposed with their axial lines L l parallel to each other, between a pair of frames 50, 50 spaced from each other in the direction of crossing the sheet feeding &iwdon P, so that they are positioned above and below the pass line of a sheet material 12, wherein a die 52 having a die cutting blade 54 of an appointed shape planted in a curved board 16 is detachably attached to the abovementioned die cylinder 20, and an anvil 22 made of urethane material, which receives the blade tip end of the abovernentioned die cutting blade 54 m an engaged state is attached to the anvil cylinder 24.. Furthermore, both cylinders 20, 24 are driven and rotated in the direction opposite each other by an outside drive source (not illustrated) to which both the cylinders are commonly connected via a gear train. Therefore, a sheet material 12 represented by a corrugated cardboard is put between the abovementioned die cutting blade 54 and anvil 24 and is fed to the downstream side, whereby in this process, the con"onding sheet material 12 is die-cut to an appointed shape.
Furthermore, in the preferred embodiment, the sheet material 12 is formedto be rectan with its long side 12a orthogonal to its short side 12b and is fed so that the long side 12a is oriented to the sheet feeding direction. Furthermore, in addition to the abovementioned "soft cuCtype, a so-called "semi-hard cuCtype in which a metallic plate made of material such as stainless steel, aluminium or copper, etc. is attached to the outer circumference of a cylinder constructed of an iron-onented hard material, wherein a sheet material is die cutting by causing a die cutting blade to be brought into contact with the outer circumference of the metallic plate, and a so-called Iiard-cuCtype in which a sheet material is die cutting by causing a die cutting to be directly brought into contact with the outer circumferential surface of a cylinder without applying a metallic plate may be employed as the anvil cylinder 24.
Both cylinders 20, 24 disposed between both of the abovementioned fi-ames 13 50, 50 are set so that their axial lines L1 become parallel to the reference line 12 orthogonal to the sheet feeding direction P, and simultaneously the die 52 is attached to the die cylinder 20 so that the lateral die cutting blade 54a, of the die cutting blade 54, forming a lateral die cutting line 26 parallel to the long side 12a of a rectangular sheet material 12 is inclined. an appointed degree of angle 0 1 with respect to the reference line L2 (See FIG. 1 and FIGA). That is, a die cutting is performed on a sheet material 12 horizontally fed between the die cylinder 20 and the anvil cylinder 24 by the lateral die cutting blade 54a being gradually brought into contact with the sheet material 12 from one end side to the other end side in the lengthwise direction (that is, the extending direction of the blade 54a). Thereby, it is possible to prevent that a stress is applied onto both the cylinders 20, 24 and the lateral die cutting blade 54a, by the lateral die cutting blade 54a being brought into contact with the sheet material 12 on its entire length at one time. Furthermore, the inclination angle of the lateral die cutting blade 54a of the die cutting blade 54 is preferably set to 10 to 150.
A detailed description is given of the disposed state of a die cutting blade 54 in the die 52. The lateral die cutting blade 54 is, with the die 52 attached to the die cylinder 20, set so that it is positioned to be spiral at a degree of angle 0 1 in an inclined state with respect to the axial line LI of the corresponding die cylinder 20 and the perpendicular line R1 extending the blade tip end KT1 to the blade root IKE I at each position in the extending direction at the corresponding lateral die cutting blade 54a. crosses (is orthogonal to) the axial line L1 of the die cylinder at all times as shown in FIGA Thereby, the load given to the blade tip end KT1 of the lateral die cutting blade 54a can be received at the axial center of the die cylinder 20, and it is possible to prevent vibrations, which may be generated by a load being given to the corresponding cylinder 20 in the eccentric direction, from occurring.
Furthermore, in a case where the length of the lateral die cutting blade 54a is made constant, a relationship can be retained. where the cydotomy 1 between one end (starting end) and the other end (termination end) in the lengthwise direction of the lateral the cylinder 20 m the outer circumference of the corresponding die cylinder 20 is made constant. That is, FIG.6 shows the relationships of the respective cyclotomies 1 when the diameter of the die cylinder 20 is changed to 400m, 50Omm, 60Omm, and 70Omm where it is assumed that the length of the lateral die cutting blade 54a is 1,00Omm. It was confirined, from the following expression (1) which I-- 14 obtains the cyclotonnes, that the respective cyclotonnes 1 is almost the same.
Expression(l) l=0.01745a'r where a: center angle of cydotomy and r: radius of the die cylinder When the diameter of the die cylinder is 40Omm: 1 = 0.01745 X 30 X 200 = 104.07 (2) When the diameter of the die cylinder is 50Omm:
1 = 0.01745 X 24 X 250 = 104.07 (3) When the diameter of the die cylinder is 60Omm:

Accordingly, with the abovementioned die 52 attached to the die der 20, the longitudinal die cutting blade 54b is set so that it is positioned to be spiral and inclined the same degree of angle 0 1 as the inclination angle 0 1 with respect to the reference line L2 of the lateral die cutting blade 54a. with the sheet feeding direction P and the perpendicular line R2 extending from the blade tip end K72 to the blade root IKE2 at each position in the extending on of the corresponding longitudinal die cutting blade 54b crosses the axiallineLl of the die cylinder 20 at alltimes as shown in FIG.8. Thatis,as regards the longitudinal die cutting blade 54b, since load given to the blade tip end IM can be received at the anal center of the the cylmder, it is possible to prevent the die cylirider 20 from vibrating Furthermore, the point m of intersection between the perpendicular line R2 at one end of the lengthwise direction (extending direction) at the longitudinal die cutting blade 54b and the a.Nial line L1 of the die cylinder 20 and the point n of intersection between the perpendicular line R2 at the other end in the lengthwise direction (extending direction) at the longitudinal die cutting line 54b and the axial line L1 of the die cylinder 20 are in such a relationship as being spaced an 1 appointed length m the axial direction as shown in FIG.9.
Furthermore, as regards the longitudinal die cutting blade 54b of the die 54, as shown in FIG.7, with the die cylinder observed in its plan view, the termination point b where a line segment extending in the lengthwise direction along the longitudinal die cutting blade 54b crosses the outside line of one cylinder and the termination point d where the line segment ac parallel to the sheet feeding direction P passing through the starting point of the corresponding line segment crosses the outside line of one cylinder are in such a relation as being spaced in the axial direction, and this. is able to be maintained even though the diameter of the die cylinder is changed..
A lateral scoring blade 56 and a longitudinal scoring blade 58 which give a sheet material 12 a lateral scoring line 30 and a longitudinal scoring line 32 are planted in the abovementioned curved board 16. Accordingly, the lateral scoring blade 56 is disposed to be parallel to the lateral die cutting blade 54a, and at the same time the longitudinal scoring blade 58 is disposed to be parallel to the longitudinal die cutting blade 54b, wherein the lateral scoring blade 56 is constructed so that a lateral scoring is applied onto the sheet material 12 by the lateral scoring blade 56 being gradually brought into contact with the sheet material 12 from one end to the other end in the lengthwise direction (extending direction) as in the lateral die cutting blade 54a. Furthermore, the conditions of planting the lateral scoring blade 56 and longitudinal scoring blade 58 in the curved board 16 are the same as those for the abovementioned lateral die cutting blade 54a and longitudinal die cutting blade 54b. That is, the lateral sconng blade 56 is set, with the die 52 attached to the die cylinder 20, so that it is positioned to be spiral and inclined a degree of angle 0 1 with respect to the axial line L1 of the corresponding cylinder 20, and at the same time the perpendicular line R1 extending from the blade tip end LT 1 to the blade rood LE1 at each position in the extending direction at the corresponding lateral scoring blade 56 crosses (is orthogonal to) the axial line L1 of the die cylinder 20 at all times (See FIG.5). Furthermore, the longitudinal scoring blade 58 planted in the curved board 16 so as to be orthogonal to the lateral scoring blade 56 is, with the abovementioned die 52 attached to the die cylinder 20, so that it is positioned to be spiral and inclined the same angle 0 1 as the inclination angle 0 1 with respect to the reference line L2 of the lateral scoring blade 56 in the sheet feeding direction P and the perpendicular line R2 extending from the blade tip end M to the blade root LE2 at each position in 16 the extending &rection at the coronding longitudinal scoring blade 58 crosses the axial line LI of the die cylinder 20 at all times (See FIG.8). Furthermore, the point m of intersection between the perpendicular line R2 at one end in the lengthwise direction (extending direction) at the longitudinal scoring blade 58 and the axial line L l of the die cylinder 20 and the point n of intersection between the perpendicular line R2 at the other end in the lengthwise direction (extending direction) at the longitudinal die cutting blade 54b and the axial line L1 of the die cylinder 20 are in such a as being spaced an appointed length from each other in the axial direction as in the longitudinal die cutting blade 54.. Furthermore, the lateral scoring blade 56 has the same as that of the lateral die cutting blade 54a, which is described on the basis of the abovementioned expression (1).
Herein, when forming a lateral die cutting line 26 parallel to the long side 12a of a rectan sheet material 12 by a lateral die cutting blade 54a inclined an inclination angle 0 1 with respect to the abovementioned reference line L2, it is necessary to supply the corresponding sheet material 12 between the die cylinder 20 and the anvil cylinder 24 in a state where the long side 12a of the sheet material 12 is inclined only the same angle (- 0 1) in the direction opposite the inclination direction with respect to the reference line L2 of the lateral die cutting blade 54a. Therefore, the first preferred embodiment is constructed so that a sheet material 12 is supplied with its long side (front edge side) 12a at the front side in the sheet feeding direction P inclined - 0 1 with respect to the reference line L2, between both the cylinders 20, 24 via feed rolls 28, 28 (See FIG. 1). Thereby, a lateral die cutting line 26 parallel to the long side 12a is applied onto the sheet material 12 by the lateral die cutting blade 54 of the die cutting blade 54, and at the same time a longitudinal die cutting line 27 parallel to the short side 12b orthogonal to the long side 12a is applied thereonto by the longitudinal die cutting blade 54b. Furthermore, a lateral scoring 30 parallel to the lateral die cutting line 26 is applied onto the sheet material 12 by a lateral scoring blade 56 while a longitudinal scoring 32 parallel to the longitudinal die cutting line 27 is applied thereonto by the longitudinal scoring blade 58.
(Actions of the first preferred embodiment) Next, a description is given of actions of the die and rotary the cutter according to the abovementioned first preferred embodiment. Sheet materials 12 fed one by one from the sheet supplying device (not illustrated) are horizontally fed
17 1 1 between the die cylinder 20 and the anvil cylinder 24 via the feed rolls 28, 28. At this time, the feeding state of the sheet materials 12 is, as shown in FIG. 1, such that the long side (front edge) 12a of the sheet materials is indined an indination angle 1 with respect to the reference line L2.
A sheet material 12 horizontally fed in an inclined state between both the cylinders 20, 24 driven and rotated in the direction opposite each other by the abovementioned outside drive source is put between the abovementioned the cutting blade 54 and the anvil 22 and is sent to the downstream side. In this process, a die cutting of an appointed shape is applied onto the sheet materiaL As described above, since the lateral die cutting blade 54a in the abovementioned die 52 is inclined with an ande 0 1 with respect to the axial line L1 (reference line L2) of the die cylinder 20, on end in the lengthwise on of the lateral die cutting blade 54a. is brought into the sheet material 12 to commence a die cutting, and the lateral die cutting blade 54a. is gradually brought into contact with the sheet matenal 12 toward the other end m line with rotations of the die cylinder 20, whereby the die cutting is performed. Furthermore, since the sheet material 12 is inclined an indination angle - 0 1 with the respect to the reference line L2 and supplied m this state, the lateral die cutting line 26 punched by the lateral die cutting blade 54a becomes parallel to the long side 12a, (See FIG. 1). Furthermore, as regards the longitudinal die cutting blade 54b in the die 52, a longitudinal die cutting line 2 7 is applied onto the sheet material 12 in parallel to the short side 12b thereof by the longitudinal die cutting blade 54b being gradually brought mto contact with the sheet material. 12 from one end to the other end m the lengthwise direction m line with rotations of the die cylinder 20.
That is, since the lateral die cutting blade 54a for applying a lateral die cutting line 26 onto a sheet material 12 is gradually brought irito contact with the sheet material 12 without bring brought into contact with the sheet material at one time, no Luge s (impact load) is given to the die cylinder 20, anvil der 24 and the lateral die cutting blade 54a itself. Therefore, it is possible to lengthen the service of both the cylinders 20, 24 without increasing the mechanical strength of bearings, etc. of the cylinders, resulting in a down sizing and a decrease of the production cost. As regards the die 52, since it not nece to increase the thicAmess; of a curved boar 16 to increase the supporting strength of the lateral die cutting blade 54a, the weight of the die can be reduced, resulting in an easy handling ofthedie. Still flirthermore, since the respective perpendicular lines R1, R2 in the 18 lateral die cutting blade 54a and the longitudmal die cutting blade 54b are set so as to cross the axial line L l of the die der 20, the load added onto the lateral die cutting blade 54a and the longitudinal die cutting blade 54b can be received at the axial center of the die cylinder 20. Therefore, it is possible to prevent that vibrations produced by load being applied onto the die cylinder in the eccentric direction occur, whereby it is possible to simplify the supporting structure of the die cylinder 20.
Synchronously with a die cutting by the abovementioned die cutting blade 54, a lateral scoring 30 which is parallel to the lateral die cutting line 26 is performed by the lateral scoring blade 26, and at the same time a longitudinal scoring 32 which is parallel to the longitudinal die cutting line 27 is performed by the longitudinal scoring blade 58. At this time, since the lateral scoring blade 56 in the die 52 is gradually brought into contact with a sheet material 12 without being brought into contact with the sheet material 12 at its entire length at one time, the lateral scoring 30 is not strongly applied onto the sheet material 12, and it is possible to prevent a breakage due to the scoring. Furthermore, the longitudinal scoring blade 58 m the die 52 is gradually brought into the sheet material 12 from one end to the other end m the lengthwise dnwhon m line with rotations of the die cylmder 20. Still furthermore, the unpact load given to the lateral scoring blade 56 and longitudinal scoring blade 58 is a little, whereby the service of the corresponding blades 56 and 58 can be lengthened- Herein, since the lateral die cutting blade 54a of the die 52 is inclined an appointed degree of angle 0 1 with respect to the axial line L1 of the abovementioned die der 20, the lateral die cutting blade 54a will be engaged in the anvil 22 of the abovementioned anvil cylinder 24 m an inclined state with respect to the axial line Ll. Therefore, by shifting the anvil cylinder 24 in the axial direction thereof, the position at which the blade tip end of the lateral die cutting blade 54a is engaged in the anvil 22 can be changed. That is, it is possible to prevent a biased wearing resulting from engagement of the lateral die cutting blade 54a in the same place can be prevented to lengthen the service life of the anvil 22. Furthermore, since it is possible to prevent that only the same place of the anvil 22 is worn, and the anvil 22 may be uniformly worn, it is possible to prevent in advance a defective scoring from occurring, resulting from the unevenness of the surface of the anvil 22. Still furthermore, by the lateral die cutting blade 54a being inclined in the circumferential direction of the anvil 22 (that is, being positioned so as to be spiral), scales of the anvil 22 can be swept out /--\ 19 when the lateral die cutting blade 54a engaged in the anvil 22 is separated therefrom. Furthermore, since the longitudinal the cutting blade 54b of the die 52 is constructed so as to be inclined with respect to the sheet feeding direction P, it is possible to prevent a biased wearing of the anvil 22 as in a case of the lateral die cutting blade 54a and possible to sweep out the scales of the anvil 22.
Furthermore, the lateral and longitudinal die cutting blades 54a, 54b and lateral and longitudinal scoring blades 56,58, which are planted in the abovementioned die 52 are not limited to a simple shape as shown in FIG. 1. They may be formed in compliance with various types of blanks die cut from a sheet material 12. For example, as shown in FIG. 15(a) and (b), in a case where various types of blanks are die cut from sheet materials 12, the respective die cutting blades 54a, 54b and the respective scoring blades 56, 58 are planted in a curved board 16 under the abovementioned conditions in compliance with the shape forming positions of the respective lateral die cuttmg lines 26 parallel to the long side (front edge) 12a of the sheet material, the respective longitudinal the cutting lines 27 parallel to the short side (side edge) 12b, the respective lateral scoring lines 30 parallel to the long side (front edge) 12a and the respective longitudinal scoring lines 32 parallel to the short side (side edge) 12b.
(Second preferred embodiment) FIG. 10 roughly shows the construction of a rotary die cutter according to a second preferred embodiment, the basic construction of which is the same as the first preferred embodiment. However, there are Merent from each other m that, although in the first preferred embodiment the long side 12a of a sheet of material. 12 fed between the die cylinder 20 and the anvil cylinder 24 is inclined an appointed degree of angle with the reference line 12, the sheet material 12 is supplied therebetween with its long side (front edge) 12a parallel to the reference line L2 in the second preferred embodiment. Therefore, resulting from the point that the feeding state of the sheet material is diffierent, a description is given of only the parts of the second preferred embodiment which are difierent from the rotary the cutter according to the first preferred embodiment.
That is, as shown in FIG. 10, a rotary die cutter M according to the second preferred embodiment is provided with a die cylinder 20 and an anvil cylinder 24 which are rotatably disposed between a pair of frames spaced from each other in the direction of crossing the sheet feeding direction P, in a state where they are positioned above and below the pass line of the sheet material 12 and their axial lines L1 are parallel to each other, wherein the die cylinder is detachably attached to the die having a die cutting blade 14 of an appointed shape planted in a curved board 16, and the anvil der has an anvil 22, made of urethane material, attached thereonto for receiving the blade tip end of the abovementioned die cutting blade 14 in an engaged state.
The planes of the abovementioned pair of frames 10, 10 opposite each other are inclined an appointed degree of angle in parallel to each other with respect to the sheet feeding direction P and the axial lines L of both the ders 20,24 disposed between both the frames 10, 10 are set so as to be inclined an appointed degree of angle 0 2 with respect to the reference line L2 (See FIG. 11). Furthermore, the inclination angle 0 2 of the die cylinder 20 and anvil cylinder 24 is favorably set between 2' and 7'. The curved board 16 of the abovementioned die 18 is positioned on the die cylinder 20 so that it is curved to be arcuate with the inner diameter thereof being almost the same as that of the outer circumference of the die cylinder 20 and the reference line L3 parallel to the edge part crossing the curving direction thereof becomes parallel to the axial line L1 of the die cylinder (See FIG. 12). Furthermore, as shown in FIG. 11, a lateral die cutting blade 14a of the die cutting blade 14 planted in the curved board 16, which applies a lateral die cutting line 26 parallel to the abovementioned reference line L2 Oong side 12a) onto the sheet material 12 is disposed so as to be inclined at almost the same degree of angle 02 as the inclination angle 0 2 with the reference line L2 of the axial line L1 in the die cylinder 20 with respect to the reference line L3 of the curved board 16 in the same direction. And with the curved board 16 attached onto the die cylinder 20 so that the reference line L3 becomes the axial line L 1, the lateral die cutting blade 14a is inclined almost two times (0 2 + 02) the abovementioned inclination angle 0 2 with respect to the abovementioned reference line L2 as shown in FIG. 12.
That is, since the axial lines L1 of the die cylinder 20 and anvil der 24 are inclined and disposed with respect to the sheet feeding direction P and the lateral die cutting blade 14a in the die 18 attached to the die cylinder 20 is inclined and disposed in the same direction, a die cutting is applied onto the sheet material 12 which is horizontally fed between both the cylinders 20, 24 in its reference status by f 21 the corresponding lateral die cutting blade 14a being gradually brought into contact with the sheet material 12 from one end side to the other end side in the lengthwise direction. Thereby, it is possible to prevent that a large force is added to both the cylinders 20, 24 and the lateral die cutting blade 14a itself by the lateral die cutting blade 14a being brought into contact with the sheet material 12 at its entire length at one time.
Furthermore, the relationship between the die cylinder 20 and the lateral die cutting blade 14a is set so that, as in the first preferred embodiment, the lateral die cutting blade 14a is positioned to be spiral and the respective perpendicular lines R l cross the axial line L1 of the die Minder 20. Furthermore, the longitudinal die cutting blade 14b, of the die cutting blade 14 planted in the abovementioned curved board 16, for applying a longitudinal die cutting line 27 (line parallel to the short side 12) parallel to the abovementioned sheet feeding direction P onto the sheet material 12 is, as shown in FIG. 12, set so that the same becomes parallel to the sheet feeding direction P with the curved board 16 attached to the die cylinder 20. And the relationship between the longitudinal die cutting blade 14b and the die der 20 is set so that as in the first preferred embodiment, the longitudinal die cutting blade 14b is positioned to be spiral and the respective perpendicular lines R2 cross the axial lineLl of the diecylinder20. However, the longitudinal die cutting blade 14b is constructed so as to cross the lateral die cutting blade 14a at an angle of 90' 0 2 (in FIG. 11, the crossing angle of the left upper side and the right lower side is 90 + 02, and the crossing angle between the left lower side and the right upper side is 90 02).
Furthermore, m the abovementioned curved board 16, a lateral scoring blade 34 for applying a lateral scoring line 30 parallel to the lateral die cutting line 26 onto a sheet material 12 is disposed in parallel to the lateral die cutting blade 14a and. a longitudinal scoring blade 14b for applying a longitudinal scoring line 36 parallel to the longitudinal die cutting line 27 is disposed in parallel to the longitudinal die cutting line 27 onto the sheet material 12. The conditions of planting the lateral scoring blade 34 and longitudinal scoring blade in the curved board 16 are the same as those of the lateral die cutting blade 14 and longitudinal die cutting blade 14b. Furthermore, the shapes of the lateral and longitudinal die cutting blades 14a, 14b, and lateral scoring blades 34, 36 planted in the abovementioned die 14 may be formed m compliance with various types of blanks shown in FIG. 15(a) and (b) as in the first 1 1 22 preferred embodiment, and they can be created by planting the respective die cutting blades 14a, 14b and the respective scoring blades 34, 36 in the curved board 16 under the conditions de-- above.
(Actions of the second preferred embodiment) Next, a description is given of the actions of the die and rotary die cutter accordixig to the second preferred embodiment described above. Sheet materials 12 horizontally fed one by one between the the cylinder 20 and the anvil cylinder 24 via the abovementioned feed rolls 28, 28 have, as shown in FIG. 1, their long sides 12a, parallel to the reference line L2 and their short sides 12b parallel to the sheet feeding direction P. In other words, sheet materials 12 are supplied in a state where the position of forming a lateral die cutting line 26 to be applied onto the sheet 12 (illustrated with an alternate long and two-dashed line in FIG. 10) becomes parallel to the reference line W.
A sheet material 12 horizontally fed in its reference state between both cylinders driven and rotated m the direction opposite each other by the abovementioned outside drive source is put between the abovementioned die cutting blade 14 and the anvil 22 and is sent to the downstream side. In this process, a die cutting of an appointed shape is applied onto the corresponding sheet material 12. That is, as regards the lateral die cutting blade 14a in the abovementioned die 18, a die cutting is commenced by one end of the con"onding die cutting blade 14a in the lengthwise direction being brought into contact with the sheet material 12, and the die cutting is completed by the lateral die cutting blade 14a being gradually brought into contact with the sheet material 12 toward the other end in line with rotations of thedieder20. As described above, by further ineffining the lateral die cutting blade 14a of the die 18 attached to the die cylinder 20 only an angle 0 Twith respect to the die cylinder 20 disposed and inclined an angle 0 2 with respect to the reference line L2 in the same on, the lateral die cutting line 26 die cut by the corresponding lateral die cutting blade 14a becomes parallel to the reference line L2 (long side 12a) as shown in FIG. 13. Furthermore, since the longitudinal die cutting blade 14b in the die 18 is gradually brought into contact with the sheet material 12 from one end toward the other end in the lengthwise direction in the die 18 m line rotation of the die cylinder 20, a longitudinal die cutting line 27 parallel to the sheet feeding direction P is die cut m the corresponding material 12.
23 That is, since a lateral die cutting blade 14a for applying a lateral die cutting line 26 onto a sheet material 12 is gradually brought into contact with the sheet material 12 without being brought into contact with the same at the entire length at one timeno large stress (impact force) is exerted on the die cylinder 20, anvil cylinder 24 and the lateral die cutting blade 14a itseX. Therefore, the service of the bearings, etc. of both cylinders 20, 24 can be lengthened without increasing the mechanical strength th resulting in a down sizing and a decrease of the production cost.
Furthermore, since it is not necessary to increase the thidmess of the curved board 16 m order to increase the supporting strength of the lateral die cutting blade 14a, the weight of the die 18 can be reduced, resulting in an easy handling thereof.
As regards a scoring onto the sheet material 12, which is carried outsynchronously with the abovementioned die cutting, since the lateral sconng blade 34 in the abovementioned die 18 is gradually brought into contact with the sheet material 12 without being brought into contact with the sheet material 12 at its entire length at one time, a lateral scoring 30 can be applied onto the sheet material 12, and it is possible to prevent a breakage due to its scoring. Furthermore, since the longitudinal scoring blade 36 in the die 18 is gradually brought into contact with the sheet material 12 from one end toward the other end in the lengthwise direction in line with rotations of the die cylinder 20, a longitudinal scoring parallel to the sheet feeding direction P is applied onto the corresponding sheet material 12.
Accordingly, since the lateral die cutting blade 14a and longitudinal die cutting blade 14b are positioned to be spiral with respect to the abovementioned die cylinder 20, it is possible to prevent a biased wearing of the anvil 22 by shifting the anvil cylinder 24 in the axial direction, and the service life of the anvil 22 can be lengthened. Furthermore, it is possible to prevent in advance a defective scoring resulting from unevenness of the surface of the anv4 and at the same time scales of the anvil 22 can be swept away. This is the same as in the first preferred embodiment.
FIG. 14 is a rough construction view in which a rotary die cutter M2 according to the second preferred embodiment is employed in a printer die cutter which is typical of corrugated cardboard processing equipment. The processing equipment is f 24 constructed so that a plurality of printer units 42 which carry out appointed printing on a sheet material 12 is disposed at the downstream side in the sheet feeding direction of a sheet feeding device 40 which delivers and supplies sheet materials 12 one by one and a rotary die cutter M according to the second preferred embodiment which die-cuts the multi-color printed sheet materials is disposed at the downstream side of the printer units 42. Furthermore, in the processing equipment, in order to print and die cut sheet-like materials, it is necessary to align the reference points respectively set for the abovementioned printer vunts 42 and rotary die cutter M2 with each other. Therefore, a register device (not illustrated) is provided therefor.
That is, with the reference points of the printer units 42 and rotary die cutter M2 positioned by the abovementioned register device, sheet materials 12 sent out one by one toward the printer units 42 at an appointed timing by the sheet feeding device are printed to appointed patterns and characters at the predetermined position by the printed umts 42, and thereafter are horizontally supplied to the rotary die cutter M2, wherein the parts corresponding to the position where the printing was performed on the sheet material 12 are die-cut by the rotary die cutter M2.
In order to prevent a large stress from bemg exerted when &e-cuttmg by the lateral die cutting blade 14a, although the die cylinder 20 and the corresponding lateral die cutting blade 14a are inclined with respect to the reference line L2 in the rotary die cutter M according to the second preferred embodiment, the sheet materials 12 may be supplied in its reference state in which sheet materials are generally supplied. Therefore, m a case where the rotary die cutter M2 is employed in a printed die cuttex, it is not necessary to give any modification to the abovementioned sheet supplying device 40 and printer units 42.
Furthermore, as a means for horizontally feeding sheet materials 12 into the rotary die cutter M2, an air chamber 44 and a feed roll 46, which are disposed above and below the pass line may be employed instead of the abovementioned feed rolls 28, 28 as shown in FIG. 14, wherein by using the air chamber 44, the sheet materials 12 can be supplied with its state accurately retained.
(Modification examples) The invention is not limited to the abovementioned preferred embodiments.
Various variations and may be employed. For example, it is possible to employ a rotary die cutter according to the first preferred embodiment in a printer die cutter. However, m this construction, it is necessary to place master printing plates of the respective printer units in an indined state in compliance with the inclination of sheet materials. Furthermore, m each of the abovementioned preferred embodiments, a description was given of a case where a che equipped with che cuttng blades and scoring blades is attached onto the die cylinder. However, by attaching a die equipped with a die cutting blade and a die equipped with a scoring blade in Merent cylinders disposed m series m the sheet feedmg direction, che cuttmg and scoring may be separately applied onto the sheet materials.
