Abstract

232,405. Davis, W. J., and Edison Swan Electric Co., Ltd. April 9, 1924. Variable resistances.- A rheostat has an adjustable stop to limit the motion of the contact arm, thereby limiting the minimum value of the resistance. The resistance element 1 is mounted between insulating cheeks 2, 3 fastened to the panel 4. On a spindle 6 are fixed at the upper end a control knob 5 and at the lower end a contact arm 7. On the upper surface of the panel 4 beneath the knob 5 is rotatably mounted a disc 11 having notches 13 in its outer edge, any one of which may be caused to engage with a spring wire 14 by rotation of the disc 11 by means of a knob 12. A stop 15, formed by bending up a tongue from the disc 11, is adapted to engage a pin 16 projecting from the control knob 5.
